Angry 2004 Screw ups?! SO PISSED!

Ok so I get a call today from my nissan dealership, Johnson Nissan, Kingston, NY. Yes I am calling them out! Of course I think oh my car is here!!! But NO!!! They claim that the car that was ordered for me back in June was produced in the wrong color and I won't be getting my car this month!!! I ordered a Daytona Blue Performance model and they claim the factory had massive problems and the car was produced in Silver. Worse case now they have to re-order the car beginning of september and I won't see it till November which is winter for us in the Northeast. That is if they can't locate one.

Has anyone else encountered this to back up their "factory had massive problems" claim??? Any info would be appreciated... ok now time to go punch a wall! And call other nissan dealerships.

This is dealerspeak for "we sold your car to someone else for more money, and think you are stupid enough to believe our BS story".

Ask to see some documentation. Did you get a VIN? I wouldn't deal with these people any more. I trust the manufacturer to get the order right. I mean, come on, got the paint color wrong? If they ARE telling the truth and the car was painted wrong, I bet that the fault lies with the dealership.

I have already put in a complaint to Nissan Consumer affairs. They are supposed to call me back.

I did get the guy to put the price in writing. He said he would give me the car (Whenever they get it) for $30k. I guess this is pretty good considering with my options the invoice is $29.4k.

I hate car salespeople!

they are mostly one step away from...."would you like fries with that?"

If the Nissan Consumer affair ever call you. Can you let us know what they are going to do about it?

will do. I am waiting for calls from both the dealership and nissan. I was kind of walking a fine line because I didn't want the dealership to get pissed and screw me over even more since I called nissan. The nissan rep told me he would contact the GM and try to sort it out without making it sound too bad for me.

Latest update is that they could have confused my order since my origianl salesman left. So, I guess they are trying to determine if my order even went in!!! How annoying. I'm so tempted to just walk onto any lot here and buy a 2k3. But then I wouldn't get as good a price probably. I am also going all the way back to upstate NY because my fam bought 3 cars there and they were supposed to take care of me. I am near Boston.

jhchan, did you get an order number or the order form from the dealer when you ordered your car back in June? You can call Nissan Consumer affair to check what color was being ordered with the order number that the dealer gave you. I don't believe the manufactor produced the wrong color. It could be your dealer ordered the wrong color or they sold your car to someone else at a higher price.

Nissan told me the only way they can check that kind of info is if I have a VIN. That I do not have. Hopefully someone will be calling me back today with the real story. I'll try and get the VIN then and follow up with Nissan if I don't get any answers.

Great treatment huh? My family and I have purchased 3 cars from this dealer in the last 4 years! Unfortunately our salesman left so I have been dealing with managers.

That's not true. Nissan was able to help me check and make sure my car was ordered the right color and options with the order number that the dealer gave me.

Hmmm... I don't have an order number. Just a copy of the order sheet they drew up on the dealership forms. I guess I will get that info next and follow up. Thanks for the info!

Is there some reason you can't go to another dealer?

I sure could go to another dealer but I don't think I will get the car for $30k. That is only $600 over invoice. Depending on how things work out this week I will be shopping around hardcore. This was supposed to be a no hassle deal but guess things never work out the way their supposed to in the car business.

Another dealer BS story. We should create a sticky thread with all the BS lies dealers have given to customers when asked why their cars were not delivered as promised.

My favorite BS story was that guy a few weeks ago whose dealer told him the car fell off the truck.

they are salesman. nothing more can be expected of them.

Dealers suck, plain and simple. If you're looking for a good Dealer experience when buying a car, buy a luxury car.

I learned the same lesson you're going through when the original dealer I was working with "forgot" to put my order in even after I had confirmed it with them 3 times in a month until they realized their mishap.

If you really want the car, you can find it somewhere else. Yes, you may not get the price you want, but you might get lucky and get a better deal, who knows. You just need to weigh the cost of waiting compared to the cost associated with a possible higher price on the car and having it sooner.

Good luck!

I travel the country every other week or so. Every time I pass a Nissan dealer there seems to be plenty of Zs on the lot. You should be able to find one virtually anywhere. Even a blue one and they should be dealin' on the 2003s.

It's endemic. My order was placed on June 2nd, and right now it's sitting at a port in Newark, NJ, an hour from my house. It's been there at least 5 days now at port, just sitting there. Meanwhile, I've been waiting over 90 days, even though I was assured it would be 60 days. I had to pull teeth just to finally get that info from them. They are scum, and couldn't care less about the customer once you sign the papers.

This is typical of dealers. They will tell you anything to get you to commit to buying a vehicle from them. After you have made the commitment they could care less about you. My dealer said mine would be here on 3 Sept. The Friday before it was supposed to be delivered I checked with them. They said the delivery had been delayed but they didn't know why. The manager said he received updates every two weeks and should know the following Monday when he receives his latest update. Now he says it will be here no later than the 19th. I received an email from the salesperson Thursday saying she was going on vacation but they would received an update on the delivery date Friday (yesterday). Of course I haven't heard from them. It hasn't been two weeks so I don't know which one is lying. Why can't they just be honest with their customers? It would be a lot easier on everyone.
