Thanks, blackSunshine. I will check out Track #13 tomorrow.

Here's a (rather lame) pick of me picking up my Blue Beauty today:

throbbing_Zon: Wow, thanks for the glowing review of my review! So when do you want to go for a ride? Saturday?

(Sorry, I have not exactly been breaking her in easy. I am mostly keeping it below redline, having set the tach light to flash at 5000, but I have been pushing it a bit hard. I really don't think it matters much with engines these days anyway. Keeping it under 4,000 would be impossible -- I challenge anyone to try!)

z350z, I believe you. I know I will have that weight on my foot too. It's just been so long a wait, so we just can't wait!!

Saturday!!! If I don't have to work, we need to ship, then I have plans to go too Metcalf to break in my new Yamaha Banshee Quad, nice and easy, ha ha!! But that will be in the morning. Saturday afternoon should work, if I'm not at work that is. How about I PM you tomorrow night when I know if I work or not. If not then we firm up. OMG, realizing a ride in your Z just now brought a tear to my eye!! November, November, November............................is my birthday month

Getting back to your previous cars, (and this comparison goes out to anyone else who has input) I sense that part of your impression of the Z is due to cars that you have owned in the past. That is where I come in - I am currently driving a friggin 1993 Mazda 626!!! My friends, and others that I know are telling me that the Z is going to be a subtle change - to say the least.
The closest car I have over owned was a 1987 240SX.
Whats your take?? Feel free to give the Z all the props it is due....... And tks for the epic post.

Russ
Thanks, CPA.

It will be a HUGE change from a 626, of course, but will feel closer to the 240SX in seating position, etc. The only 240SX I have been in was an automatic and didn't do much for me. I think you will be very happy with the Z compared to your other cars.

Oh good, they didn't put the front plate frame on it. Er, are there any holes?

This is the first time I read where the cars bumpiness is compared to another (the MR2) and fares better -- which sounds like good news!!

I test drove an MR2, but at the time I wasn't trying to focus on the bumpiness so I am still at odds. Has anyone driven a Honda Prelude either 92-96 model or the 97-01 model? How would it compare to that?

Thanks
I got to test drive the car on wed. and I own a 93 prelude and let me tell you. The car is smooth, more so than the prelude. The clutch is very easy on the foot...very quick to engage. I love it. If nothing goes wrong, i'll be getting my Z this friday and i'll post my review of it after I drive around the island a couple of times.

You made my DAY! I have 93 prelude (automatic though; so I can't relate to the clutch), but I didn't want the Z to be any harsher than the Prelude -- the lude has a good balance and drove it for 110k miles before donating it to my dad for more miles.

z350z,

Thanks for all the detailed information on your new "Z". Even though I expect to have my "Z" by next week, I really appreciated your motivating first experience with your new "Z". As I was reading it, I too could almost picture your first ride!

Can you talk a liittle bit more about the acceleration of the car. Does it feel fast?

Thanks for the picture and congrats!!!

Default Congrats!

z350z, That was a beautiful review. This is why I come here to see lovers of the car being truthful about all the good stuff. Nothing better than a review from a homer!!! I am super jacked up! I can't wait!!! The pic is awesome!! The Daytona blue is lookin mighty tasty. Thanks a lot.

Default Shifting

You mentioned that the upshift from 2 to 3 is a joy. My experienc has always been that shifting "flaws" show up when down shifting. How is the downshift from 3 to 2? Is it effortless (I hope) or is there any notchy like feel to it?

Sure, it would be nice if I could be all hard-*** and objective and pick apart every detail of the car like an emotionless investigator, but let me admit right up front that I am seriously in love with this car. So for unbiased criticism, read elsewhere!
This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear! Excellent review! I am SO happy for you!

You have just made my November wait bearable. For that, I thank you,
Todd

In response to Robbyn's request about driver's size (i know i'm not z350z but hope this helps), I'm 6'2" tall and about 240lbs and I had absolutely no problem with fitting in the car. Head room was really, really good, lots of room to spare. And width wise, I was very comfortable in the seat and cockpit.

A brilliant and an utterly moving account!

In regards to the "tears in the eyes" thing. Well, let's just say that winding out a sports car down a twisty but open road (that you've never driven before) with the sun setting and the sky all pink and orange, and your favorite music playing softly in the background, with no cops for miles, is ALMOST better than sex.

I'd cry too!

I had this experience while driving to the south of France through the many hamlets, villages and vineyards of the Bordeaux region. I've been longing ever since to repeat the experience.

In those days it was in a friend's brand new Peugeot 205GTi !!
Maybe next time, it'll be in a 350Z

Keep the positive reviews coming...

Fly
