+1 on that..WOW!!! Idk anymore..Learning is one thing but for one person to be in the Z community and not know basic car knowledge is something i would put under the " FAIL " community

Seemed like a reasonable enough question to me.Go ask a handful of your neighbours if they knew the answer.I'll bet at least one won't know.Everyone has to start learning somewhere. The actual definition of displacement is the volumeof a cylinder when the piston is at BDC.The amount of air that can be moved is somewhat relevent but not the determining factor.A supercharged engine ingests a whole lot more air but the engine size doesn't change.

Actually it's the volume based on the distance the piston travels from TDC to BDC. That distance is equal to the stroke. At TDC, the cylinder isn't zero volume, the combustion chamber volume isn't calculated as part of the engine displacement.

Yes,you are rightT.K. I was talking about a cylinder in general, not just an engine.Cyl head cc is not a factor. My point was that in fact the cyl head, valves, cam, throttle plate all limit air flow for obvious reasons.WOT and air being drwn in do not determine the size of the engine.its the actual dimension of the cyl
