There's a difference between asking a Z specific question vs. an ANY vehicle question. I believe most of the negative responses you're getting are due to the disbelief that you didn't wiki or google your question, instead, creating the thread here.
Also, grow some thicker skin and take the responses lightly, you'll live longer.
+1 on that..WOW!!! Idk anymore..Learning is one thing but for one person to be in the Z community and not know basic car knowledge is something i would put under the " FAIL " community
Seemed like a reasonable enough question to me.Go ask a handful of your neighbours if they knew the answer.I'll bet at least one won't know.Everyone has to start learning somewhere. The actual definition of displacement is the volumeof a cylinder when the piston is at BDC.The amount of air that can be moved is somewhat relevent but not the determining factor.A supercharged engine ingests a whole lot more air but the engine size doesn't change.

Actually it's the volume based on the distance the piston travels from TDC to BDC. That distance is equal to the stroke. At TDC, the cylinder isn't zero volume, the combustion chamber volume isn't calculated as part of the engine displacement.
At least I have the ***** to ask, you never stop learning. I think everyone in here has heard dumber questions. I'm pretty sure you have asked dumb ones too. We're a Z community right? So why be a smart ***?
because this forum, while excellent and incredibly informative, has a 60% smart a$$ rate. it is kind of pathetic the ammount of blasting that goes on in here.......one bad apple spoils the bunch...... blah blah blah. some people on here really have no life and get a total boner being able to add to there post count by replying one word posts such as: "search"

Yes,you are rightT.K. I was talking about a cylinder in general, not just an engine.Cyl head cc is not a factor. My point was that in fact the cyl head, valves, cam, throttle plate all limit air flow for obvious reasons.WOT and air being drwn in do not determine the size of the engine.its the actual dimension of the cyl

Zed, this is a good link here that kwame posted. Check it out. Don't worry about the flaming, it's natural on the board. Just enjoy my350Z.com forum, it's here for all Z'ers.... And anybody can converse, if it's a Z, GTR, any Nissan, American Car, other Japanese Car, Honda, German, etc. Questions to be asked, Answers to be found. Thanks for your quick assistance also "Kwame", you did right. I didn't even know what F.I. was back in 2003, now I wouldn't be without it. So I learned too.
