unfortunatly he is right. my roomate and best friend has a 135i which has the same engine as the 335i its just lighter. he has intake and an axle back exhaust, paired with his jb3 tune and he crushes me. its hurts to say it but he does. by no means is that car a joke or a luxury car. i personally think its going to be the next supra.
just my 2 cents
just my 2 cents
but, i wouldnt compare it to the supra. the supra, for me, is a legend.

Surprisingly, the 135i is only 200lbs or so lighter than the 335i. It is a beast from performance perspective, but unfortunately, it's not a looker. It looks almost as if the car was an after thought...like they had to make something for that segment, but didn't do a new chassis and just tried to lighten the 3 series.
On a second note, I went to drive the 370z last night and came away with mixed feelings. The syncro rev match on the manual is amazing...a little disconcerting at first, but one you understand what its doing, it's really nice to have. The ride quality is much much better than my Z and the interior is definitely better quality. The downsides, however, is that the engine didn't feel as powerful as I would have hoped, and the exhaust note is no where near as exotic as the 350z. Hopefully the looks will grow on me, but as of now, I don't know if I'd invest $$$ for the 370z.

good to know that their are some people who think about the z like me but i cant say 350z . I think it fells better to call it Fairlady Z
BMW 335 is a greet car but the Z (Fairlady) is another Story and life
.
All i can say it is master piece

I think with the harsh realities of not getting a decent trade-in value and a very hard time selling the Z privately(especially for a decent $), does help in "loving" the Z more. Maybe it's like that feeling of not being able to break-up with your g/f and you can't stand her, but if you do, she will kick you in the nuts and her daddy will call his boys to teach you a lesson.

i love the 135i, i think its a wolf in sheep's clothing! ive read about the DINAN chip/exhaust package for $2000 that claims around 400hp and 400 lbs/ft torque (or something similar to that). i even like the way it looks, and it's definitely a car i would consider next.
but, i wouldnt compare it to the supra. the supra, for me, is a legend.

it really is something that could be a supra killer later on when people start to explore this cars capabilities
DINAN has been proven to be overpriced and they have been know to ******** there gains.

I was gonna say that, these days, the 350z doesn't turn as many heads as it used to when it just came out. The 350z has become as commonplace as BMWs, but that's not to say that it still doesn't put a smile on my face, too, when I take her out!

two different realities...
please dont make me slap myself when you compare ANY bimmer to a Supra, my opinion is that eveyone overrates the supra, ut comparing the bimmer to that is ridiculous...
bmw does not make sports cars, they have no sportscar history - and just because theres an M in the name does not make the car a sports car. Its silly... great car, but crappy engine with a TT makes simple mods effect it crazy.
fast car, great comfort, but not a drivers car.

this pisses me off... yes stock for stock 335 > 350. However the MSRP is also 335>350... Take the money you save from buying the car into mods and for the same amount of money 350>335 and it sounds and looks meaner, whereas the 335 is stock.
obviously a simple tuning of an FI car will create major effects so a jb3 on a 335 puts it ahead of the Z but then again they are paying more for a wanna be sports car...

Stillen intakes - $350 or less
decent catback - $1,000 or less
HFCs or test pipes - $300
basically for around $2500 you can pick up some nice gains and smooth out the power curve. again, look in the HR tuning section, guys are posting their dyno sheets. 300+whp with bolt ons/reflash is not impossible.
just saying..........

I've decided that NOTHING on the road sounds as good as a stock Exhaust on a Z 6 speed. There may be louder or raunchier but for a stock system....well it gives me wood

They aren't that much faster stock but their upgrade potential is far superior to the Z.

Unless a Z goes FI... then?
Eather way i hate when people argue this kinda BS. BMWs do not make sports cars. the 350z or ANY Z for that matter has pure sportscar heritage embeded in their DNA... If you wanna run in freeways there are a lotta rich dadys boys BMW owners that will take a Z and have enough to pay for the speeding ticket they get... Take these two cars on a track and the Z will outshine the 335.
Just like a Impreza WRX would outsine a Z in rallying and offroading...
Just like a Vette will outshine a Z on a drag...
Just like a Tundra would outshine a Z in hauling capacity...
