Default A Charter Member giving me a test drive today.

well this is very cool...I might add that I was planning to do the same but Mike got his car first....This is just very cool of him to stick to it. In a half hour he is showing up at my APT with his badAZZ Redline Track Z and letting poor Zless Abyss the test drive of his life.

I'll have driving impressions along with more pics. Cant wait...been told my car should be here next week but this will hold me off since i'm about to go to the funny farm seeing all these Z's and nuthin for me

posting to this in about a hour or so.

Later Z fans.

Those splash guards are awesome. Glad I got them. Had a Red 911 and got a ticket the next dat, otherwise would have opted for Red again. I'm gonna try & stay incognito in my BLACK Touring coming on 9/4/5/6/7/... who really knows when??

Default Window Tint

1) Were those factory tinted windows?

2) If so, do all models come with factory tinted windows, or just the track model?

Great Pics. We are truley envious. TXSTYLE I too have decided that spoiler looks good. The splash guards are very well done. Blend nicely. SO.... I have ordered a Aero pack which should make it here for initial delivery. Also, I have ordered those Rays. They look great too.

ALL cars in Texas are required to have windows tinted before leaving the dealership j/k!

With the Texas sun glaring down, that would be the first thing I would do after leaving the dealership..

Thumbs up

Goddamn. That car is absolute perfection! What's the percentage on the tint? Same all around, or darker on the hatch? Looks like 35%. I'm going with 3M 30% all around.

And I agree that's a super-tight tint job. Please, post what brand/% of tint was used.

Well, being a man of my word I rode with InternetAbyss while he drove my Z. I could tell it was a good thing I did because he was wanting to give it free reign but didn't. I drove about a hundred miles today and the stares are getting hysterical! I was challenged by 2 Mustangs but I graciously declined.(You pass me because I let you, not because you can!) But when challenged by a Miata!, Shift,Shift,Shift, and they saw the only view they will ever have of a 350Z, from behind. My new baby is Zelicous! I hope everyone get theirs soon.
I bet once your break in time is done, you'll be chewing up rustangs like miatas.

I totally agree on the comments of being speechless after getting mine last night at around 10pm. I've since put about 150 miles driving around Dallas last night and today. I totally LOVE this car. My last Z was a 95 TT and this one has it's own unique side of it, yet still retaining the Z qualitys...oh and the looks from people is amazing. I've got guys and gals honking, waving, yelling, even one guy at a light on tollway who wanted me to go by his house to show his wife the car, so he could convince her to let him buy one...too damn funny! The silverstone rocks!!! I actually stopped by Courtest later in the afternoon hoping to grab me a Z keychain but missed the service dept being open. So when can the Z's in Dallas get together and park the cars outside of a restaurant with a patio and just stare and grin at our cars. Again, just speechless...I nearly slept in mine last night, but opted not to...hehe.

After one day, I'm convinced I would have paid even more for this car!!!!

find that for me in the rules, jason...

i tinted my lexus 20% all the way around and passed inspection no problem. i think that this 35/20 rule is old or outdated or made up. i have only been in TX 2 years, so i dont know about before that...

My interpretation from the rule below tells me 20% on the front windows and no limit on the rest (as long as its not reflective). this might sound wierd because you could make the rear glass opaque.. that is ok, i think... some vans have thier rear windows boarded shut...

here is the section on this (taken from http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/insp...ejectsubmit=Go):

Inspection/Rejection Criteria
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20.32 Window Tinting. All 1988 or newer model vehicles that have window coating, tinting, or sunscreening applied to the windows must be inspected for the following:

1. Inspect for and reject if:

a. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windshields:

1) Extends downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five (5) inches from the top of windshield on vehicles without an AS-1 line. Measurements shall be taken from inside the windshield; or

2) Is red or amber in color.

b. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windows:

Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, have less than 20% light transmittance.

c. Check calibration before rejecting vehicle.

2. Exemptions:

a. The following will not be considered as sunscreening or glass coating devices:

1) Rearview mirror.

2) Sun visors.

3) Motor carrier destination signs.

4) Rear window wipers and motors.

5) Trunk lid handle or hinge.

6) Luggage racks.

b. Do not inspect glass coating on vehicles used to transport passengers on a regular basis for a fee, (i.e., taxi, limousine, and buses).

c. Do not inspect glass coating on a vehicle that is maintained by a law enforcement agency and used for law enforcement purposes.

d. Vehicles used by persons with medical permits. Drivers of these vehicles must present a letter of authorization from the Texas Department of Public Safety to gain this exemption.

e. Multipurpose vehicles may be equipped with any nonreflective film on the side windows that is to the rear of the driver. No label required. (Those motor vehicles designed to carry 10 or fewer persons constructed either on a truck chassis or with special features for occasional off-road use.)
