So I went to look at a 350Z and G35c today...

Let me know. You can contact me at matt350z@yahoo.com.
If you want new, try Smithtown Nissan. They will ship on most occassions. PM "Blufish," he is a sales rep there. Great guy and and dealership. Mod FRIENDLY! Can't stress that enough. They have the fastest 1/4 350Z in the country. Nuff said. And they support this community as a sponsor.
if i had a choice I'd love the "fairlady" to be my adultress and "newskyline" to be my wife
*just making an analogy* unfortunately i can't have both lol...so I had to choose the adultress!~
I don't find the g35 interior to be anything impressive if compared to other types of (luxury)interior design like bmw(german cars) etc. And as far as the design is concerned I believe the Z is far more creative and up to par, the only negative problem with the Z's interior is the CHEAP plastic parts!!!!!!! they used for the whole side panel/dashboard/etc!~
g35 has the feel of quality within the interior design but the design itself isn't neccessarily appealing compared to it's exterior looks as compared to other luxury(sport) cars.

If you must compare performance, the outcome truly will be a drivers race.
But i bet if you put the same driver in a 10 lap race in a G35 vs 350z, the G35 will come out the winner. Less driver fatigue. hehe.
but in all seriousness...the Z screams "look at me!" and has millions of dollars in Nissan marketing to make you and every pedestrian believe, "that is a special car!" The G35 looks sporty and classy at the same time. Less "ohhhs and ahhhhs." so its really your preference in style, lifestyle, and threshold for attention. Performance differences are negligable.
The interior is personal preference. I looked at both G35 and 350z. I got the Z because 1) I don't need the back seats, 2) I have a soft spot for hatches, and 3) I couldn't justify spending the extra $6-$10k on the G for what I THINK (IMHO) is an inferior interior.
I was pleased with the way Nissan didn't attempt to paint the plastic in the Z in the way that they did with G35. I also like the way the 350Z cockpit is set up better. The in-stack storage area is nice and useful and I personally think the radio buttons are set up better. I like the way the dash warps around and nicely incorporates the window defrosters into this design.
Yes, the leather is nice...but I've quickly learned that you don't want leather in south FL (nothing like feeling your legs burning into the leather on your seat). And yes, the G does have dual climate control that is digital (instead of analog) but I personally think that dual CC is bogus anyway.
Just my thoughts

BTW, the Performance at Stevens Creek has a Nismo exhaust; if you wanna just take a look at it, look for me (Bruce), or ask for my buddy John (he's up to speed on performance cars; he has an EVO VIII himself).

I've heard good things about Capitol but don't have any experience with them personally. You may also want to try Boardwalk in Redwood City.

Honestly, though, fr0ng needs to negotiate first before he can conclude what price a dealer will sell for. But like I said in a previous post, I'll hook anyone up that has a carsdirect.com printout (I just need that to justify it to my boss).PS -- Stevens Creek dealers in general are a$$holes because they know they can milk the money off of wealthier patrons. Sucks, but that's the way it works.
If you are willing to drive a little, McKevitt Nissan in Berkeley will treat you fair. I paid MSRP way back when dealers were really charging 5K over, so you should be able to get a good sub-MSRP deal now. Ask for Tony or John, buth guys are really cool.
I got my Z at Stanfurd Nissan for $1500 under MSRP. I believe Hank was the name of the dealer (internet sales.) I would also concur that McKevitt Nissan is also friendly and easy to deal with. But they are low volume so less likely to deal (will probably just stick to MSRP.)
I've also heard a lot of people say good things about San Rafael Nissan (somewhat of a drive if your in the south bay.)
Also agree that the interior of the G sucks compared to other luxury brand interiors. Audi, Acura, Lexus interiors, now that's luxury. G is more on the level of Honda or Toyota. Z interior is spartan which is just right for the type of car it is!

what made me buy my Z
Open the door and you will see on the AC vent a Z logo on the grill. my God they thought of everything. you will never see it unless you look at every knoock and cranny of the car.
Bad Azzzzzz

Just because you work there does not mean you set the asking price. I've been to quite a few dealerships on Steven Creek and they all play the same game. If people are paying $5,000 above MSRP and you guys are moving them then more power to the owner of your dealership. I'm just trying to let Fr0ng know that just because he saw one dealership at $5K above MSRP he should not get discouraged. And I completely agree that he does need to shop around and go in armed with pricing information from other sources.
The two reasons I purchased my Z over the G:
1) The Z simply look more aggressive. I'm not overflowing with testosterone, and I don't have tigers as pets; however, I appreciate the aggressive look of the Z.
2) It seems more "raw." I really don't want a luxury coupe that dresses up like a sports car on the weekends. I want one or the other; no identity crisis.

BTW, for all you prospective buyers out there, don't get discouraged because the dealer asks for a certain price. The price is always negotiable. The a$$holes are the ones that don't know when to stop asking for the most amount possible.
i would think if your price range is 35k then the g35 is a better value. i think the z is the ultimate value for someone (like me) whose price range is more like 28k. if i was going to spend 35 it'd be a tough choice between g35 and a fully loaded rx8.
you really cant compare these cars!!!
Now that I have an FX35/tech also, I'm Sooooo happy to have a Z over a G. The only reason IMO to get a G over a Z is the need for two extra seats (jump seats) and the practicality issue.
If you want a sports car, the Z is the only one. Sitting inside a G...simply doesnt feel like a sports car - it feels like a near luxo car that performs almost like a Z. However, the visceral component is missing. You sit higher in th G, the Gaudy dash replete with fake aluminum and hundreds of tiny buttons sprinkled across the dashboard...the Z is far more functional - all those buttons are reduced to three dials...
Alos, regarding driver fatugue - there's some info re: the Z interior design in the BMV6 (Z shock) where the Z designers talk about how the y engineered the seating position, arm reach blah, blah...for maximum involvement, control and comfort.
Is it true? I drove from NJ to san diego, 295 miles, one day I did 15 hours behind the wheel....it was really easy!

Here was my take before getting the G:
I have no need for the rear seats other than extra storage space. My requirements wer that I wanted a coupe with good handling, power, braking that would make a statement and be a comfortable daily driver. In the end, the last 2 cars I decided between were a Z06 and the G35 Coupe. The Z06 lost because of the daily driver aspects.
Comparing the Z and G, both have the same drivetrains and are built on the same chassis. Both have the same suspension arms and springs, but the dampening and sway bars are a little different. The Z turns quicker, but the G is more stable. In the Z you can turn into the corner quicker, but you can get on the throttle quicker in the G. The differences are going to be more when you look at the bottom line and what each gives you. The Z is the sports car and the G is the touring car. The G will have of course the better finished interior, while the Z will be simpler. I hate the back end of the Z, but I love the back end of the G. That is just my preference. I think though that both front ends are equally well styled. Comparing a G to a Z, you can get leather and a Bose stereo OR Brembos on the Z. That is you can get a Track model or a Touring model, but not both together. With the G you can get everything plus additional eminities like the power moonroof and digital compass. The G is also the better bang for the buck. If you compare a G 6-MT with the Premium Package to a Z Track with the extra airbags, the G is cheaper. Plus, you still get everything that is on the Touring model(leather, heated/power seats and Bose with 6-disc changer).
Next you look at the warranty. The Z has a 3-yr bumper to bumper and 5-yr powertrain warranty. The G has a 4-yr bumper to bumper and 6-yr powertrain warranty. So it is 1 extra year in both categories. Last you have Infiniti service versus Nissan service. Nissan corporate is not driven to make the service the best in the industry, but Infiniti is. Infiniti is number 1, 2 or 3 in all categories in JD Powers surveys out of all manufactuers. Infiniti gives bonuses to their dealers only for customer surveys that have every box checked as "Excellent." Nissan has no incentive at all. For Infiniti,iIf they aren't perfect; they don't make anymore money. Nissan by comparison is barely hitting the top 10 in any category in JD Powers. I've already had a couple very bad experiences with my Maxima and Nissan service. If you take your car in for service at Nissan you will be lucky if them provide a ride for you. Infiniti always givens either dealer loaner car or a rental car. This is part of Infiniti's "Total Customer Committment." This is at all of their dealers. Last, although the Z is the Sports Car and the G35 is the Touring Car; why does the G get the better tires(Michelin Pilot Sports versus the same Dunlops used on Lexus LS430s)?

Am I the only one that hates the back end of the G? I love the front but I think the back looks ike crap. The interior is nice but I've always wanted a Z and don't regret buying it. Plus I wanted to stay around 30K.
the interior of the G is crap.......and i own one. no memory seats, no auto recline, cheesy metal-like dash, etc. that being said, i find it tons better than the Z. but you have to think about what you get for the premium in price (touring Z vs. G35). better sound system, moonroof
, and maybe the most important thing, dealer service. i will never buy a car again that doesnt give me a loaner car for service. who wants to have to find a ride? oh and they give you free sodas too......
