Default Quick Vendor Prices Question

I am new on these forums, and I searched but could not really find an answer..

Why can't vendors post prices???? This is the most bizarre thing to me, I've been on several other forums for years and I have never seen this restriction. Seems very prohibitive to me, makes simple things like pricing something out a pain in the *** IMO waiting for PM's and responses, and deters competitive pricing between vendors... what gives?

Could someone please explain? Thanks in advance

It's for market competition. If someone offers something at price "A", nobody will buy the piece from another vendor priced "B."

Also, different vendors may be offering different discounts or sales.

Yeah I mentioned that in my original post, that's the entire point, the driving force behind competitive pricing... Why would you ever want to get rid of that and why on earth is this a good thing for anybody but the vendor? Unless this is the idea, so forum rules promote mystery pricing so it takes days to quote out the best price from several different vendors and at the same time prevent any reason for anyone to lower prices

no, it is done to prevent vendors form turning a for sale thread into a flame fest. also there are times that they offer a part for way less than msrp. if it is found out by another endor that sells the same part they can rat out the thread starter to the manufacturer and possibly lose their business with that particular part maker (it has happened in the past on here).

so it makes perfect sense. you want to keep getting good deals from our vendors you just PM them and ask them for prices.
