Default 6'5" or taller? my review...

after hearing conflicting reports about the size of the interior, i decided to check it out for myself at a chicagoland dealer.

i'm 6'5'' 210lbs with a 35-36" inseam. i was able to sit in one with leather, 17" rims, and auto trans (performance model?). the seats were **** as we all know. the entire seat actually slid back all the way to the wall. the seat back reclined much farther than i imagined it would, more than necessary even. i had 1.5-2" of headroom, no problem. reclining the seat actually didn't change that any for me.

the problem was with my right knee. it barely fit between the center console and the steering wheel. it was difficult to get to the brake pedal. i equate the legroom with that of an acura tl-S. slightly different driving position, but the same amount of legroom. the bmw 3 series actually provides me with more legroom. strange, but true.

this was a sad day for me, no doubt. as a result, my silverstone enthuziast with nov. delivery will now be for sale. i'll post something in the classifieds shortly. good luck to all you tall guys/girls out there...

****, dude, that's horrible! Did you try everything including raising the steering wheel a bit. I'm 5'11 and have a 33" inseam, i.e., I'm all legs.

Not that these two cars are anywhere similar, but I've been driving my wife's 5-speed Civic for the last six months. Stay with me... From day one my knees were banging into the steering column simply because I refused to raise the steering wheel a little from it's lowest position, in my lap. Once I decided to give in and pull it up about an inch, problem solved. My knees don't hit the steering column anymore and I've become used to the higher steering position. The Civic's still slow as ****, but it's a helluva lot easier to live with.

if the wheel moved up another inch, i'd be in the clear. i drive a civic now and it has more room than most "compact" cars.

i think i will be defecting to the g35c camp. one inch more head and leg room.

Man, I must be one tired dumbass! I didn't even notice the "Civic" in your sig and here I am telling you about Civic legroom.

Sorry it didn't work out. The thing is, none of us knows until we actually get into the driver's seat. Glad you figured it out now instead of delivery day.

Today I let a friend of mine, who's 6'5" and change, sit in my Z. His height is mostly in his long legs. He said it's the most comfortable of any sports car and he fit pretty well.

It looks like I'll fit quite nicely. I'm 6'2" with a 31" inseam.

Whew!!

I am 6'3" with (almost) a 34 inch inseam. I fit in the car, but I BARELY fit. With the seat all the way back, my legroom was perfect, but if my legs were any longer, I would not have been comfortable. I do not believe anyone with a 36 inch inseam will be comfortable in this car. VaGentleman, you may have a bit of an issue with head room. Your torso appears to be longer than mine, and while I had a small amount of room above the top of my head, I thought my visibility was blocked a bit looking out the front window because the roof slopes down to meet the the front window and it blocked my view a little bit. Now this was not a deal-killer (I mean its not important like setting the cruise control at 91 ), but it was a slight drawback.

well I had huge complaints about my g-friends prelude. I am 6'1" and I got pissed when i had to keep driving this cramped car.

Then one day, I simply just forgot about it. The car was fun and I had been driving the car for 2 weeks until i remembered how much i hated the crampiness. In light of the fun I had driving the car, my legs adjusted and became comfortable all tweeked to the side to reach the brake. This happened again when I drove my gramps lincoln. Coulnt get comfy, then after awhile I adjusted

Robbyn,

Sounds like I'm with you...6'3" 200lbs, 34" inseam...I think I'm going to juuuust fit (I hope). I've been driving an integra R for 3 years, which is pretty small. I do not fit in an S2000...wheel does not tilt at all, which is ridiculous. Watching me try to get into an MR2 at the auto show was a spectacle that drew a crowd. I guess even if I don't fit great, I'll deal with it...the Z seems to have the most room of any serious sports car, so it won't get any better trying something else.

Well, maybe I can fiddle with the seat to get a comfy fit..i.e., to get my head more towards the front where the roof apex is located.

I did check the headroom measurements of my current '87 200SX (i.e., from the owner's manual) and the Z has about an inch more...which is nice to know.

If that doesn't work...well maybe a sunroof will help.

I swear, I will even consider surgery to get me into that car!!

We'll miss you at the Chicago events. I guess there is a benefit to being 5"5", unless I won't be able to see over the steering wheel.

Ya,,,,,,, Magnum never drove with the targa top on!!!!!!!!!

He is like 6-3 and the 328 is a very shallow car.

You should have no problem with the sun roof.

Im 6-2 with a 32" co-k,,,,,, i mean inseam. It looked to me that I will fit in the car, the seats looked big enough for ***. The only thing I didnt like and turned my stomach was the rear hatch space. Or lack of space?????? Where do you put anything larger that a grocery sack? My gad it is shallow..... I also dont think you can call this car a touring car, only if you decide to only pack a snack lunch box!
After seeing the hatch space it reminded me of a model car, much ,much much much smaller than I thought it would be.

sounds like the majority of Z buyers are 6'2" or taller. I'm 6'3" with a 34" inseam. I fit in OK with the cloth seats. The only problem was with the short dead pedal, my foot was wedged in at the toe. Maybe the leather seats are a little different than the cloth, you shoud try them first before deciding to sell.

My question is what sports car do you think is going to be better?

S2000 no tilt or telescoping wheel, Boxster telescoping only. Corvette less headroom, NSX no head room.

My point is us tall folks have to put up with stuff. I am driving an escort no tilt, I guess I don't really fit, but I get by.

Now I know we all want our car to be perfect, but look around at other sports cars and tell me the one that is more comfortable than the 350Z. Might be a M3 or 911.

So sorry Chicago. The G35c will be sweet too.

On the bright side, since I am only 6'2" / 185, with 33" inseam, should be about perfect.

Even BETTER is that my 6'5" 16 year old son will probably sit in it and say "Sorry dad, it's just not comfortable, but thanks anyway....I'll take the minivan instead"

I am sooo glad that I'm 5"8" with a 30"-31" inseam. Sometimes being short and 134lbs can be great :-)

I fit in the car like a glove!
