wow finally! Can you get some pics and maybe some video clips of it in action?
I'll try to take some pictures in a day or two. In the meantime, you can see pictures of this stuff at the Conrad Anderson site linked in the original post.
I'm not sure how video would be interesting, but will do it if someone can convince me.

The AP800 also has other connections to the 350Z's wiring. When the cruise is activated, the AP800 electronically "pretends" to be the pedal through the T-harness to the car's computer.
what were these "other connections" was it just power?

There were few other connections. I remember the kit needing both a constant and switched 12V source, a ground, a vehicle speed signal, and clutch and brake switches.
It seems as though for just about a hundred bucks more you could have the OEM cruise control. The steering wheel switches, brake, and clutch switch can be had for about a hundred bucks for all three and plug right in. A new ECM from a non base car is about eight hundred bucks. I am not sure if the ECM has to be programmed or not.....but assuming it doesnt it should all just plug in and work. Also, has anyone ever confirmed that the base ecm cant be flashed for cruise? Another possibility would be getting a used ecm off ebay.
Nissan ECU can't "just be flashed" for something like cruise, VDC, etc.
My research led me to believe that a base model ECU can't accept a program intended for another model, and the ECUs for the not-base models would not function properly in a base.
I also was not able to find any references to someone ever successfully connecting non-base devices (like steering wheel switches) into the base wiring harness. I could be wrong, but I don't think the mating connectors and wires exist in a base harness.
Most telling of all, I asked knowledgeable installers in my area who had experience with throttle-by-wire aftermarket cruise controls. No one could find a product, and I'm sure they didn't want to lose my business.

Correct. If you took the ECU from a Touring model, it would be looking for the VDC system or TPMS, something that's not available on the base.

The wiring harnesses are the same across models so the connectors would definitely be available - the problem was always that the ECU didn't have the functionality.
