Bad News In Fairfax, Va - Can Zisme tell me anything
I went to Jim Kerra's Nissan in Memphis today and he told me he will put in my Z order Sept. 1, and my car should be here by late November/ Early December. I dunno, I feel weird about this though. Many people who ordered their cars pre-June time have gotten their cars delayed. Perhaps that could be because the car has not been released till now, and now since they are released, they probably have a more accurate guess of when the future Z's will be released. I seriously believe the Nissan dealer streched the arrival date of my car in order to get us to buy it. I have this weird feeling that it will arrive late december. But if its past December, i will be majorly pissed. If that does happen, i might even ask for my deposit back and get an s2000 or something, even though the Z is my first choice.
I ordered a Chrome Silver Touring on May 13th from Browns Nissan in Fairfax Virginia. I received my press kit the first week in July and my confirmation letter from Nissan stating the standard Sept-November delivery which every other preorder received. My dealer called last week and said that I was going to receive my Z in December. I can deal with that but I get the feeeling something is going on .I see these posts that people are ordering within the last week and they are being told that they will receive their cars in Oct-Nov. Anybody have a clue? Any suggestions Zizme? Thanks
I live 5minutes away from that dealership. Who'd you talk to? Mike Clemmins? I talked to him last week, he promised me he'd get me it in 9 weeks, blah blah, but he kept saying.. "Just come in and put your downpayment, and we'll talk". So it sounded fishy as hell. I went another route, I took over a cancellation. Tell you honestly, they might have submitted your order, but now I think they are just ripping people off and saying "Yes, we take orders", when infact they put you on a waiting list till Late Sept, and then put you on their alication for the Sept Request, and you won't even get it till Jan. But in your case, it all depends, ask them when did they submit the order, ask them when the alication is coming in, how many were they assigned, and if you want it earlier, tell them to check for any cancelled orders you can take over for, you won't lose your deposit , it will be credited to your downpayment on the new Z you just took over for. Also, did they charge you that bs 895.00 "Appearence Package"?
Tell me abuot it. I asked him what it was, he said it covers the wash of the car, removing the plastic, oil change the car (It comes with oil, freaking scammers), polishing the tires, ect ect. He kept saying.. "Yeah when it comes here, it's wrapped COMPLETELY in plastic".. then I said,.. "I'll take it off, Ill do all that stuff, just give me the car without the package" and he goes.. "Can't do that sir, it's required" .. *laughs*
I did not get charged the $895.00 My salesman is Sean Kelly.I paid MSRP from the web. I have the confirmation from Nissan that they received my order. The inventory manager called me from Brown's and stated that they were getting 4 in Sept., a couple in October, 0 in November and 13 in December. He said I would probably get mine in November since they did not have any allocations for that month. My salesman called me yesterday to tell me that they had a chrome silver track model in their for a Nissan Corp Rep if I wanted to see it. Of course I did and raced over there. I can't wait for mine

I hate when I hear of people getting ripped off!!

I haven't had such a bad experience though. To the contrary:
I called the salesmanager yesterday and asked if 3 coats of Zaino (I would provide the product...2 coats z-5/1 coat z-2 as per Sal Zaino's advice when I called him) could be applied before I took delivery. I told him I'd be happy to pay the going labor rate. He said that it would be done w/o charge. Laughingly, he said I could slip him a 10 spot and he'd do it himself

I was over there last night to check out the staff trainer. It did look nice. I sat down with Mike Clemmons to see what information he had on deliveries. He showed me the list of cars they had VINs for and what other orders were in the "first batch" of cars to be brought in over the course of the next two months. I ordered my car March 9th, and it was last on that list (maybe 13 or so total orders). About 5 cars on the list had VINs at this point. After speaking with Nissan Corporate a week ago, I was given the impression I should expect a December delivery. Mike told me last night he expects my car in early October. I am putting more stock in the December estimate.
I was told that I was the last preorder for the first allocation on the list. It was May 13th when I ordered. I did not believe that I was the last ( thought it was a sales tactic) so I had an associate call from work the next day acting like he was trying to buy a 350Z. The sales department stated that they had sold the last in the first allotment the previous day.It is such a cutthroat business. I am like you, I believe I will get it in December, but hope for sooner. When I was there looking at the chrome silver model yesterday acustomer inquired that he would like to know the soonest he could get one. The salesman said that they had three people that backed out of perorders.

ehh, I just don't believe a thing they spit out any more. clemmons is the third sales person i have been bounced to for information. i spoke with a rep from nissan corporate (1-800-NISSAN1), and gave her my name and dealership. She was able to give me the package number, the production date, and the estimated delivery date. her info stated that my car was to be in the Sept 2nd production group, and shipped in time for the December deliveries. i have to think her information is most accurate of anyone's. at least she was able to confirm the specs i ordered, which fortunately were accurate.
I just called my dealer, and he said that there was a Z on the truck today, but it wasn't for them... so I suppose there are several trucks out there roaming around, and one has my Z on it...
