Attempted Break-in Thwarted!
I just wanted to share this with you guys. I was in Lynn, MA at a funeral. I'm in the funeral home and it's (dead) silent. All of a sudden my key fob starts beeping at me that my car alarm is going off. I book it out of the funeral home and start running to my car. By the time I get there, the thief is nowhere to be found but both side windows have scratches on the outside where the fcker tried to use his slim jim. I've got the Viper 5901 with the glass tamper sensor, so I think he tripped that. Luckily the scratches are very small. I'm just glad that the alarm spooked him because otherwise he'd either be driving a nice 350z, or at least have walked away with a headunit, ipod, 10w7, escort 8500, amps, garmin etc... I'm so glad I put the $$$ into an alarm system. I highly recommend the 5901 to anyone who has to leave their car in a sketchy area.
I have the clifford equivalant (hell the same system really, just branded different). haven't needed it so to speak yet, but I like hearing things like this
damn, trying to steal from someone at a funeral, kick em while they are down..

I had a local hookup on both the install and the purchase, and got the clifford equilvanat installed for 550$. if you went right into a shop you could expect around a grand, the install time will kill you on labor and the system itself isn't terribly cheap.
Nice save, I also have the Clifford 50.7X which is exactly the same as the Viper 5901. The range on these alarms are awesome. I still receive signals from my car in my office building from a parking lot across the street
MSRP on these alarms w/ installation are $649.99, but I bought and installed mine at a local shop for $379.99.

well likely he wouldn't be driving it away, our Z's are really pretty well protected against being started up without a programmed nissan Z key, not that it can't be done, just most thieves don't carry around a $3000 Consult 3 unit. tho the stuff inside you would have been SOL on. You should write down your serial #'s of your stuff, since that's what the insurance will ask for should the stuff get stolen.
Thieves suck ***. Lieves who's try to rob people at a f@ckin funeral are Sh!tass bastard dickweeds.

I bought the alarm system, with the directed window tamper sensor and the directed tamper sensor all for about 350 or so online and installation was about 120 at a local shop. Well worth the money when I consider the 2000 or so that I have invested in electronics inside the vehicle. The only reason I went for the Viper over the Clifford/DEI alternatives was because of the remote. I like the way it looks. They're all made by the same manufacturer but I found the Viper to be aesthetically pleasing. Also, I'm not sure if the other remotes are rechargeable.
I was thinking about the 120 and I could be totally lying about that. It was something that ended in 20. 120, 220, 320?
bezee, I think the glass tamper sensor is designed to sense the frequency of scraping metal as well, so I'm guessing it would work. I'm not about to test it though.

glad to hear your Z escaped with such minor damage! the thief has some pretty low standards stealing from a funeral, but atleast if caught he wont have to travel far to his final destination.
install times will vary from shop to shop but a good clean quality alarm install with remote start and all the senors and goodies and hood pins and blah blah .. usually a 4-5 hour job. labor costs vary, damn, my 550$ hookup isn't sounding as great as I thought it was, but I can tell ya the local car shops wanted nearly a grand for the same set up! this was a while back when this was a new alarm on the market too though.
