Default Help--big Problem With My Breaks

After only driving 100 miles in my new Z my wheels are just covered with black ucky break dust. Anybody know if this is normal? It really looks discusting and I cannot believe Nissan would let this happen. Will it stop after the breaks are worn in a little?

It probably won't stop happening. Wax the wheels the first chance you get and they will be much easier to clean.

uhh...its called brake dust man...it happens. No its not gonna go away. For info on how to remove it, look up Deetailing Session 2: Wheels and Tires. Waxing your whels though is a pretty moot point. Wax melts at about 180ºF and you wheels can get alot hotter than that. Use a polymer sealant, the same stuff your dealer is selling you for $800 that you can buy at Pep Boys for $15.

It happens with other cars too. My SLK230 still gets brake dust all over the wheels after 45k miles, so no, it doesn't go away. You just have to clean your wheels or wash the car, that's all. High-performance brakes and nice open wheels make for a lot of work!
