Question is the key waterproof?

I want to take it swimming, but am afraid the chip inside could get damaged. Anybody has some info, maybe even tried it out?
thanks.

Why would you want to take your key swimming?

Dont listen to their jokes, its completly fine. Ive taken mine into the Pacific hear in hawaii, umm over 360 times guaranteed. (My first year i was in the ocean every single day) Its fine, never an issue or second guess. Now the key fob on the other hand, well Ive never done that. they are not water proof, tightly sealed. tie the key to your trunks and youll be ok, just make sure to secure it the best way possible and not loose it.

I usually have one of these when we go float the river. http://www.sunnysports.com/prod/WTZG...=18-37624780-2

Keep my keys, money and phone in there.
Or maybe you can make a copy of your car key (the all metal kind without the chip) and keep that one with you and lock your main set of keys in your car.
