Oh and 06 engines aren't exactly desirable FYI.

Nissan runs VQ35DE 03-05. Time for a redesign VQ35DE Rev-Up (good idea right...???). Put them in 35th anniversary & track 05s and 06 and suddenly decided that they wanted to redesign the engine again after basically 1 1/2 model years... interesting. Then the VQ35HR which is by far the most solid.

This is why you do not want an 06. https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-...iscussion.html

I guess i'm looking for some input from black Z owners who might be able to talk me out of or into this?? idk...

If you want to move to a lower mileage Z, then by all means try to pick the color you would like. However, if you want to change simply because you are restless or want to change color, then I would rethink it.

When I was looking for my Z, I told folks I would take any color but Silver or Black. Black is a pain to keep looking good and Silver is a bit boring. I found a great deal on a Silver Z however and I jumped on it.

What advantages will you get with a "newer, lower mileage" Z? Will it have features (not color) that you are missing now? Will it handle better? You have got a decent car now, unless you like to burn money, I'd tend to keep it.

If you're asking yourself the question now I'd wait a little while longer to make the decision. Be sure before you make the change, or not. You're going to be spending a nice chunk of change to take a chance at something you might be wondering, the same exact thing, shortly after you go to black.

You have a sweet ride in the top 2 colors you wanted. I'd take the extra money you'd spend on upgrading to the new color and get another mod that will bring some excitement to how you feel about the car.

If you want someone to talk you out of it,

-They are a bit+ch to keep clean.
-Pollen can be seen miles away if it's on a black car.
-Every little mark, scratch, dent, rub will be instantly picked up on a black car.
-Window tint seems to not be as dark on a black car.
-After you've washed your vehicle if there is a small amount of dust in your garage, your hours of work will look like it's been wasted when the dust settles.

PROS:

IMHO, a black car compared to any other color when clean will always get more factor. Good luck though keeping it clean.

I've had other colored vehicles before including black. I wanted black again regardless of the extra work required to keep it clean. If you're willing to take that on and you KNOW you want the black upgrade, you don't need strangers telling you what to do

I'm sure everyone at some point during ownership has wished they chose another color, I find myself craving a DB or MB every once and awhile. I say if you're looking to upgrade to a newer year, go for it, but I'm telling you, once you get a different color, you're going to eventually get bored of it as well.

Black Z's are the cleanest, but the hardest to keep clean. Swirl marks bother the ***** out of me, that's why I got my PPW

I love black color, but it is a pain in the booty to wash the car. If your Z is going to be an everyday car sitting in the sun, black is the last car you want. My beater (not a Z) is only 1 year old, it looks like the paint is fading. If I'm getting 370z, I'm getting white, a big IF because I really love my banana 350z and even lovelier that payment is about to be done. Stick with white which I would of bought if I was driving my Z everyday and I'd add post-06 taillights if you haven't already.

if your credit is in good standing, i don't think you'd be crazy to do it; now if you're already upside down on another car and this would kill you in terms of finances, I'd hold of (as everyone says, paint job vs starting over on a new payment).

and if you're going to go through with it, perfect excuse to get a HR Z.

Why the hell wouldnt you get an HR? Anywho, I'm sure you could find someone else that wants to trade said colors. I've had a few cars in my day. A red / black, two silver cars, and two black cars. My Camaro and my Z were the black ones and I have absolutely no complaints at all. Any car gets dirty and you'll be washing any color Z as much as another if you love your car.
