Talking Cold Air Intake OR a REGULAR K&N air filter

Replace your regular filter to a Cold air intake, or keep it stock and just replace the stock filter to the regular K&N filter?

1. HP difference between the two?
2. MPG difference between the two?
3. Would a regular K&N air filter replacement of the stock air filter add a more aggressive sound and HP?
4. What would you recommend be the best choice?

inbeforeflamestarts/inbeforethreadmoves

hey, fellow pnoy you should search the forums, this has been discussed ALOT and also that sticky thread, (top 100 questions) i believe it's right above somewhere: touches on air intakes.

I've seen from the JWT popcharger to CAI to SRI (to people saying the stock one is awesome with G owners opting to purchase Z intakes)... all has its pros and cons, I ran into a really well informed thread a while back.

Happy searching.

Brand new car, under warranty? I wouldn't do anything to the car for a year at least. Drive the car a bit. Get to know it. Put some thought into what you want to do with the car in the long term. Also, it will give you a year to actually do some research and figure out how to use the resources available.

just go with the drop in filters for like $120-$130, they are reuseable, and you can just put the stock filters right back in so you dont void warrenty. plus do you really wana spend 4 - 5 hundred dollars on something that might get you 5-6 hp?? c'mon.lol its up to you though

It's just CIA. It can be removed and the stock boxes put back if there is a problem. They can't void the warranty on your car entirely just for a CAI anyways.

Q: Will mods void my warranty?

A: A dealership cannot "void the warranty on the whole car" just because you have a JWT popcharger or aftermarket wheels. If they are trying to deny warranty service, they must prove that the mod caused the problem.

Of course, adding a turbo kit (for example) can put a lot of stress on the engine itself, as well as to the drivetrain. Don't be surprised if the dealer refuses to perform warranty service on a heavily modified car, that's just common sense.

This is all part of the "Magnuson-Moss" Warranty Act, which protects consumers against shady business practice by:

Quote:
The Act makes it easier for purchasers to sue for breach of warranty by making breach of warranty a violation of federal law, and by allowing consumers to recover court costs and reasonable attorneys' fees.

(In short, if they try to void your warranty and your mod could not have caused the problem, sue the bastards...)

More info can be found here
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/...s/warranty.htm

THAT SAID, if your mod *did* cause the problem, then it's your problem and you have to deal with it.
