I have owned a G35x and currently own a ZR, so take this for what it's worth.

If I was looking at the Z coupe I would go for the G coupe instead. They are pretty much identical, the G might be a hair slower but since this will be your only car the G would be a better choice.

I doubt you would be able to notice any performance difference between the 2 but the back seat will come in handy. I think G has a trunk rather then a see through hatchback, most guys have half of what they own in their car, best to have it in the trunk out of sight. On a personal note I like the interior of the G over the Z.

I would think the G is more expensive to buy and probably to own in general.

I also think that the G would be more expensive to own. And as far as my belongings in the car, The windows will be very dark. Gotta love nevada lol

But i dont know, we'll see. It will probably be about 2 months or so before i actually purchase whatever car i end up with.

I also started looking at the cadi CTS-V's. they are very close to my price range. But upkeep can't be fun.

Two years ago I was on a mission to buy a G35. The dealer missed a private appointment, so, I bought my Z. I now love my Z so much, the G is a distant tought. Fuel milage is good. 20 in town, 27 highway cruising 80 to 85. Ride can be a little rough but never tiring. I've done 300 to 500 mile one way trips and never tired. Just my opinion, the Z is one hell of a car, hands down.

yeah I'm actually looking forward to the ride and handling of these cars. My mom had an 05 35th ann with all the bells and whistles and I loved driving that car. Always wanted one after that. And now that i can afford my own, I can't wait to hopefully get my hands on one

Speaking from experience, i think you'll be just fine with a Z as a daily driver as long as you know what you're getting into, which it seems like you do.

My Z is my only car. I've had it for 3 years and recently drove to San Fran and back (i live in seattle.) Since it's my DD and i work in downtown, i have to drive it in the city up extremely steep, rain slicked hills every day. Never once have i regretted it, and i'm sure you wont either. To this day i still leave work with a big old stupid grin plastered across my face, it is a GREAT car to drive.

oh man, i hate driving in seattle lol

my girlfriends parents live in auburn. long story short. her dad let me drive his 04 cobra vert up while we were there for the weekend. ended up on the steepest hill in downtown seattle in the rain. fml lol

but yeah, i have no problem with a stiffer ride. i'll almost welcome it with open arms considering the tank im driving right now. knobby tires + no sway bar + lift = one shitty ride

I also look forward to the end of the day drive. I live in Ohio where winter always sucks. I will have owned the Z 2 years the 15th of November. Already have put 26k on it. For the haters, it's an automatic, not one trans problem whatsoever. So HATE ON!

A bird's eye view: Stick to the '04.5, '05, '07 and newer models. USUALLY, not absolutely so, though, the '03 and '06 models are a bit more trouble-prone. Keep doing your homework and you'll find the right one, dude!

thanks man! thats what this is all about. just trying to learn a thing or two so i dont go in blind! also why im really taking my time and not rushing it too bad. when i first started hunting for a new car i ALMOST bought an 06 STi. they wanted so much for it, but i was blinded by the test drive. I almost took the plunge and woulda been regretting it later whe people on a forum asked how much i got it for then would've proceeded to laugh me off the forum. lol.

so im taking my time, doing some research, and can hopefully end up with a bangin deal on the car I want. I believe the color I am DYING for is lemans sunset? that burnt metallic gold orange color? If i can find the Z i want with the options i want in that color i will be the happiest guy alive.

WOW. An 07 white 6speed for 19k. Those newer stock 18's are nice. Buy it, smoke the tails, limo tint, powdercoat the rims......Tell us how the test drive goes!

thats my exact plans for it. also needs a nice clean spoiler. and a nice front lip..

but yeah, that almost seems too good to be true!

and as for the G, i can't buy private party. not without selling my truck. which i've tried to do for the last 3 months. I have accepted the fact that I will have to trade it in and take the loss.

Good call. If I can ask, how much have you been asking for your Ranger (price)? Comparing it to what I've been asking for mine haha. And I'd definitely say if that 07 Z looks good, get that!

Haha yeah I've seen those I was debating whether or not to get them, they look really good on yours since it's silver. Mine sticks out like a sore thumb. How much will the dealer give you for your truck? When I test drove a Z one time the dealer was trying to convince me how I can't sell my truck for any more than $7k. He actually ended up trying to give me his business card and I took it from him and threw it on the ground in front of his face and told him when I sell my truck I won't be back at his dealership to get my Z.

thats ridiculous

and a few months ago i damn near traded the truck in on an 06 sti. and they wanted to give me around 14k. at the time that was almost an insult because i was trying to sell the truck for book value. but now i might have taken that if they werent asking 26k on an 06 sti with 48k miles on it. screw that.

Ehhh :/ that's asking way too much for an 06 with that many miles. Good thing you didn't, 26k is like how much almost new 08 Z's go for. Most likely I will sell my truck private party then buy a Z or G in auction. I'm hoping to get lucky finding an 04.5 or an 05 :/. If you know any dealers that can get you into an auction, go for it.
