Default Got the car yesterday (auto review included) - long

So let me just save the drama right now, and say that this is the funnest car I have ever driven. Not the nicest, but the funnest. If you are waiting, keep waiting, and if you love driving and sports cars you will not be dissapointed, unless you are stepping down from a ferrari. Ok here we go.
Dealer calls me yesterday, lets me know my car is in 2 weeks ahead of schedule. I tell him not to mount the license plate, and dont wax the car, just wash. The guy does just as I ask. I get to the dealership at around 7:30 pm. Three touring models are there, a peaks white, a brickyard, and my silverstone. Let me take a moment to say that the brickyard is one beautiful color, really exotic. Depends the type of look you are going for, but no one should not be happy with that one. I see my Z, and just stare at it, and a big smile comes accross my face. This is the first time I have seen one in person, and it is just as I thought. Even better. Like many of you, I have been here everyday for months reading about this car, knowing everything there is to know about it, but there is something special about seeing it in person for the first time.
Paperwork comes next, short details here. All the people from the dealership are there, my representative drove an hour on her day off to be there for it. These people were almost as excited as I was. I am giving a recommondation right now for Hayward Nissan. Good people there, some really enjoy the cars they sell. Lets skip to the drive.
They pull from inside the showroom, and park in around the side. By this time the brickyard owners have showed up, and their car is alongside mine. That was a nice picture. I have to go get gas, so my rep comes along with me, obviously a car afficiendo like many of us. I start up the engine, and it is so nice. Not to deep, not a lawnmower, it is the sound of a car that wants to be driven. I drive in city streets, so no chance to see the how the car handles. Two things were evident. I really like how low you sit in the, makes me think i am in a true driving machine. Second, I think the visibility is fine, from the rear and the sides, you have to position yourself correctly. I also had a chance to appreciate the suspension. Tight, smooth, and gives you the feeling you are gripping the road. I wouldnt change it. I drove to the station, pull up, and start putting in the 91 octane. The guy next to me starts circling my car, admiring it. The guy from inside the gas station comes to take a look, saying there is no way this thing cost me 34K, said it looks much more expensive.
I let my rep drive the car back to the dealership, since she obviously really like the car, and drove an hour to be there when I picked it up. I appreciate that type of customer service, so I didnt mind her driving a few minutes back to the dealership. The passenger seats are fine, but the drivers side is where I wanted to be.
After I get the car to myself, I hop onto the and cruise at 80. Let me talk about the auto for a minute here, and provide some of my background. I do not race cars, expect for the occasion stop light race, and have driven a stick for the past four years. I am a huge car buff, and was really wondering if I had done the wrong thing with the auto. I don't know how the Z drives with the stick, but with the auto it is a blast. It was nice not having to shift at every light, it was nice to be able to hit the gas at any speed and have pickup (no need to downshift), it was nice to just cruise. This was all nice since nissan put in a very good auto transmission in this car, on par, if not surpassing the mercedes CLK auto (the only other auto i have driven worth driving). The shift are lighting quick, and from 0 - 20, the car will not usually shift, allowing you to play and hear the growl of the engine. After 20, the shifts are, like I said, very quick, and smoother than how I shift in my manual. The car is fun with the auto thanks to nissan putting in a quality transmission. Factor in that this car is still a sub 6 seconds car with auto and I am very happy with this transmission. It probably allows for quicker acceleration than i would be able to with a most of my manual starts anyway. I want to reiterate that I do not race, I just like cars, and for my money the auto is looking like it was the right decision - for me. Not much to say about freeway, since I wasnt pushing the car hard, except that you dont know how easy it is to get to 90 until you actually look at the speedometer. Acceleration at any speed so far has been effortless, and my expectations were met, and should be surpassed once I open this puppy up.
In the interest of space just a few more notes. The car handles like a dream, a wet one at that. I felt like I could take corners at 100 mph, and my Z would just grin. At dinner people stopped and stared at her, and she smiled back. The navigation system is very nice, though I somehow turned off the voice, and now she wont talk to me. Time to read the manual. The seats are built for speed, at least the drivers side is. It wraps around you, a very nice complement to the low beltline of the car. In short, this car is more than I hoped. I was well worth the wait. Please ask any questions you may have, anything I could do to ease the wait of my fellow z-maniacs would be a pleasure.

Cheers,
Tubbs

Default How is the PPW

I am assuming you got PPW? If so does it meet your expectations. My wife wanted brickyard and I wanted PPW with brickyard as a close number 2.

So I ordered a PPW touring, fully loaded. (Sept 5 delivery)

After seeing pics of brickyard I have second guessed my choice a little. I think long term PPW will age better but the brickyard pics look better than PPW pics.

My sanity is in your hands. Tell us what you think. thanks and congrats!!!!!!!!!

Tubbs,

Glad to hear you are happy with the Auto. I have a G35C with auto on order. I have been worried about that choice, but with all the stop-and-go traffic here in LA, I just couldn't see getting a stick. I'm jealous of all you guys getting your cars now. I don't get mine until November

Tubbs,

Did the Brickyard Touring that you saw have the Frost interior? The Dealer Inventory list indicated that it did. If so, what did you think of the combination of Brickyard/Frost?
