I would've filed charges against the person regardless if it took calling another officer to the scene.

I plan on filing a complaint with the Sheriffs department. I have a friend who is a sheriff I want to ask him the best way of going about this.

Wow, what an ordeal. Wish you the best in fighting and repairing your car. Kinda reminds me when I confronted someone about items he stole from my truck. Not the same, but catching up with morons like that makes me happy I did.

That sucks man. Hope everything gets worked out and like others have said you will regret departing with it more than the relief of being judged like the rest of us..

^ Funny! What I meant was is there a FN complaint form was the way they handled it correct... You know questions like that.

2 accidents in 1 month time is why I was debating the shift in car. But the more I look at her the more I want to keep her. Theirs so many things you can do to the Z :-( We'll see what happens when I get her back from the body shop. Trixie will be all done up again. haha

Make his insurance company pay the depreciation of your car.

If the wreck was charged to him, they should pay out the loss you will recieve, if traded, by the car being in an accident.

totally know how you feel. a similar thing happened to me about 6 years ago when i was driving my integra gsr. some idiot ran a red light and got into the lane next to me. he was going so fast that he prolly didn't see me in his blindspot and tried to merge onto the lane I was in, it was raining pretty bad and on a downhill that when he hit me my car spun out of control. i hit two cars in oncoming traffic. the guy fled the scene, witnesses behind me got his license plate numbers and back me up with the police. unfortunately they never found him. either the witnesses misread the plates or his car wasn't registered.

to make matters worst, my car was stolen out of the body shop when it was there to get fixed. i thought i had the worst luck in the world and was so fed up with cars that i didn't buy another one for at least 6 months later.

I hate how cops always judge people with sports cars as always being in the wrong.

No wonder people these days just run, there is no penalty for it. I need to look up the VA laws on this!

Hope all works out for you bro

edit;
In VA here is the part of the law that lets a person run.
Where, because of injuries sustained in the accident, the driver is prevented from complying with the foregoing provisions of this section, the driver shall, as soon as reasonably possible, make the required report to the State Police or local law-enforcement agency and make a reasonable effort to locate the person struck, or the driver or some other occupant of the vehicle collided with, or the custodian of the damaged property, and report to such person or persons his name, address, driver's license number, and vehicle registration number.

I suggest you file a complaint on the COP for not doing his job. This is flat out hit & run. I thought the only way you can get away with leaving a scene of an accident is if you were Tiger Woods?
