Around here you can buy a 10-15 year old house for about $100 per square foot, less in some areas, more in others. Weather may suck in the Midwest but housing prices are pretty reasonable.

A man's vehicle can represent the man himself.

Like the poster before me, I bought my Z outright in cash. I'm 19 years old and a full time college student that has been on my own for 2 years now with zero parental help, but almost all my college is paid for by an athletic scholarship... so no loans/debt.

Aside from that I make between 4-12grand a month working like at most 10 hours a month with affiliate marketing and male modeling. I think my next investment will be a condo (which i'll buy in outright cash as well), and then perhaps a lexus SUV (For the winter months or when I want to drive around more than 1 other person). I hate having payments on things :P

(And yes, first post. I bought my Z a month and a half ago, and this forum was extremely helpful in my decision making/learning all about them. Z's are sexyyyy)

not to be an *** but a bunch of you posted that the Z was 1% or 2% of your total net worth. I didn't check out what year/mileage you have, but assuming that the car is worth about 15,000-20,000$, and if that is truly 1% of your TOTAL NET WORTH, then your total net worth is 15,000-20,000 x 100 = 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 which makes you a millionaire (maybe even multi). If this is the case and you truly are a millionaire, why waste time with the Z? Buy a GTR at least haha. I mean c'mon you can definitely buy a fly *** car if you have that much bank. Or maybe you like the cheap but coolness aspect of a Z. Just a thought

I thought about the GTR, but got the Z for several reasons:

Don't need/want 4 seats.

Speed limits are the same regardless of how much you spend on the car.

The Z is essentially a disposable toy. If it gets dinged or develops a serious problem, I'll ditch it, take the loss, and move on. Wouldn't be that way with the GTR.

The GTR wouldn't fit comfortably in my garage. Size DOES matter.

My wife thinks the GTR looks like a "transformer" car, and is too aggressive. She thinks the Z is pretty, though.

car payments, gas and insurance probably equate to about 20-25% of my income. that is too large of a % - I should have saved up.

Let's see i'm old 53 and my car payment is about 1/4 of what I make. Most everything else is paid house and properties. Investments are sitting good and you have to have some fun before your too old to. I guess the car would be about 1/10th of what I'm worth. But in a few more years who cares just have enough put away to cover your butt. There seems to be some people on here with some big ***** lol. Saying there worth millions but hey I guess anything could be true

Just cause you have a lot of net worth doesn't mean you have a lot of expendable cash. You have to really want that Lambo to shell out that money on something depreciatable, even if you have 2 mil on your bottom line.

I'm in college, sold my eclipse for $6k, bought an 04' enth. w/ 40k miles for $13250. It's my biggest asset. Usually unless you have some sort of investment, your car is your biggest asset until you own property.
