Body shop screwed up
I posted a few weeks ago about my rear bumper getting scrapped up in a parking lot. Took her in for repairs. Picked her up Friday.
The guy from the body shop walks out to the car with me and starts showing me the front bumper which had a small scrape on the right side and the right reflector was broken. Reflector was still broken but the scrape was gone. It was getting dark and the light wasn't to good.
At this point I am thinking to myself they better not try to charge me for this.
I walk around to the rear of the car and the scrape is still on the REAR bumper.
Yes they took the front bumper off, fixed the rock chips, scrapes, etc. Painted it and I must say it looks good BUT they didn't fix what they were supposed to and the estimate said rear bumper, paperwork it also had remove and install the plate and I don't have a front plate.
Monday she goes back in the shop to get the rear bumper fixed...

Sounds pretty shady. So the estimate covered only the damage to the rear bumper and not the damage to the front that was obviously there from another incident? Yet they fixed the front? I want to make sure I'm interpreting it correctly.
I wouldn't give them another dime. If they run a professional body shop and are stupid enough to not know the difference between front and rear then they should eat the cost of their mistake.
If they make it right then you end up getting your front fixed(partially) for free. If not then there are actions which I don't know too much about that you can take.GL

To be honest with you when I'm putting luggage in my car for a trip sometimes I find myself popping the hood and jamming it in the engine bay
Sorry to hear that though, hope everything works out and you get the front bumper work free of charge

haha .. sounds like no communication at the body shop between the office and bodyman
it happens every now and then at the shop I work at .. a car comes in and the body man just looks at the car to see what needs doing and starts
probably saw the broken reflector and heard the manager / estimator say "bumper"
then the bodyman takes the bumper off, fixes the scratch and sends it to paint .. painter didnt bother to look at the estimate in the car on the other side of the shop .. and just went ahead and painted the front bumper
I wouldn't worry about them charging more .. you just get the front fixed for free and pay for the rear like you were supposed to

As soon as I called and they looked at the paperwork he said bring it back in and there will be no charge. Basically I got the front bumper fixed for free.
I messed it up one night. Was dropping my son off on a road that had been closed for construction. Went to cut across making a left turn like I always had in that spot. Well they had put in a concrete divider in the middle. It was dark and I didn't see it till it was a little to late.

After talking to Dad who runs the business when I took the car back in. What evidently happened was he was out of the shop. His son told the bodyman something like, The Z needs the bumper fixed. He didn't say front or rear. The body guy looked and saw damge on the front and went to work.
Dad said they keep the estimates on the dash but apparently nobody read it.
Bottom line I got about $550 worth of body work for free
Well it cost me $20 I took a dozen donuts and a travel pack of coffee in when I went back. May have been their mistake but they are eating the cost so I figure it doesn't hurt to at least try to soften the blow a little.

okay i dont feel like reading all the prev posts so i might repeat some info. but if the est clearly indicated rear bumper and the body shop fixed the front, then you just got urself a free front bumper paint job. you arent responsible for their screw up and they have to honor the contract and fix the rear bumper as planned. if they give you any trouble you can easily take them to court and get your way. they dont have the right to fix what ever they want to fix...wth this isnt mexico. go back there and tell them whats up!
