Does this seem like a fair trade?

WRONG! Half the fun of a built car is the build. Even if there are hiccups along the way, you will be more satisfied with it knowing that you built it with parts you wanted rather than buying a pre built car. This is in most situations and there are exceptions but for the most part I'd rather build my own Supra spending $50k and doing it right knowing I thought out everything than buying one that's already done. I know from experience with my Subaru and learned the hard way

Looks shady. Dude didn't list a VIN. AND i'm always weary of cars that have small "simple" issues (Ac compressor dead, but he has a new one he will "give" you, vice install) that haven't been addressed, although the owner took the time to do all the major engine/body work. He claims..."I have spared no expense at making this a fast, reliable street car." Then why didn't he fix the AC?

Bro after seeing the cars side by side and the sellers ad, I'd agree with the majority. I wouldn't buy a car based off of the sellers words and pictures. Stick with your Z man don't buy a headache.

Lets see, your Z is worth $XXXX.xx and the Imprezza is worth maybe $6k , $10k to a HS kid with parent that have $$$. Does it work out to be an equal trade?

I'm not doing the trade, but one of the things I liked most about that gen of Impreza is how light they are. Carpoint has the 2.5rs sedan at 2800lbs. Even with the sti driveline, I would say the 'ru is probably 3-400lbs. lighter than the Z.

LOL I saw that subbie while browsing ebay motors a week or two back. I read up on it however it did not catch my attention due to the fact that I did not participate in the build nor know the ins-outs of it. i like your Z better, keep it.

i dont think you should do it because it is unreliable and you dont know for sure how long it can last if you do the trade, id say research more and make sure that you are committed to the trade and follow through with it rather than doing the trade and regretting it

i am a big fan of STIs but just not sure about this one since it seems like it is a combo of many new and used parts which to me never worked out in the past just my 2 cents

I don't even think this thread should of been made. Its a pretty common sense kind of thought process. Buy someones headache?

To top it of most of the guys are right. You don't know jack on what went on with the build and if it even is a good one at that.

To really seal the deal think about what your buying...A WRX?????? Made out to be an STI?????? That is like buying a 330 BMW and throwing on an M3 sticker.

FAIL!

Not worth it if its not an STI to begin with.
