nissan needs to redesign door handles
ok, i'm really bored, stuck in the middle of nowhere....
one of the things i don't like about the 350z is the door handles...i know it's a small part of the car, but it seems like the door handles are too prominent...it needs to be flush or at least matching colors.

i'd just wished it was sleeker/less bulky...what do you guys think?

the layout of the door handles is lousy. to open the driver door, i have to use my left hand, turn it to a thumb-down orientation (to fit my hand into the verticle handle, and pull it toward my chest. not exactly the most natural motion. i wish somebody would make an aftermarket handle that you can actually grip.
as for looks, it's kind of a love it or hate it thing. i guess you can't be bold and subtle at the same time, and the z is cetainly not subtle. so, i'm okay with the looks.

eh, I find it no more natural to turn my hand palm up and pull towards me.
the bar types are best, but bland. sports cars are all about unpracticality, flamboyant everything, design, function, power.

(looking around to make sure wife isnt looking over my shoulder...whew, coast is clear)
I wish the door handles did not stand out like they do also. Personal taste, I know most of you love them.
Actually, I was going to buy a red Z (Had it ordered, 2 weeks from being delivered and canceled it). When I finally saw a red Z in person, I thought the door handles stood out so bad, I looked at them everytime instead of the car. That is not a good thing when you dont like them too much like me. The outcome, I cancelled the order and found one in Silverstone because they blend in better with the car.

I personally do like them. Actually I love them, they do stand out a lot, and I remember thinking to myself during the time period when I wanted a Z (long time ago!) til when I got one, "what's it going to be like having THOSE door handles?" So when I finally got her, I totally loved them. Ah well though, this is a definite opinion type question, so this just my .02!

As everyone else is saying, it is a love it or hate it thing. I think they look really good on the Silverstone and Chrome Silver because they blend in color-wise, but still have distinctive enough styling to make a statement. On the other colors, I'm about 50/50 as too whether they stand out too much.
I can go eithor way on the door handles but, like the bomb, I've learned to luv them. They kind of go with the large Z brace in the back compartment & the large spoked wheels.
I think the Z was designed to be "chunky", "edgy", etc. (Can't find quite the right word.)

Questionable for a second, but one of the most distinguishable aspects of the car. I couldn't think of a better design suited for this car... except for maybe "shaved" with remote control door access... hmm...
Wow girls actually look at and comment on your car?!? I stopped to let 3 hotties cross in the middle of street on sat, I might have well been driving a pinto they never gave it a second glance..its a seattle thing (stuck up)

I agree with wildone_106 , I think it only looks good with certain colors; chrome silver & silverstone.
As far as the style, I like it because it is unique and adds to the distinctiveness of the Z.
The ergonomics of the handle, however, does bother me. It doesn’t seem to be placed in a “natural” position. I usually open a car door with my left hand. With the Z I have to twist my left wrist into an odd position to open the door.
But the biggest irritation it always having to wipe fingerprints off the handle. I wipe it down every time I get out!
But that said, all of this is minor inconvenience. I love my Z and I can live with an unusual door handle. The style definitely grows on you.

i agree that it looks better with the silver colors. i guess what bothers me is that it makes the car seem less aerodynamic. in general sports cars try to make things smooth (compare, e.g., the mirros on a m3 and a regular 3 series) and it just seems the door handles goes against this philosophy...but yea, it's one of those love or hate things i guess.
