Unhappy very unfortunate weeekend

I was rear ened pretty bad over the weekend. Worse part was i was out of town 400 miles from home, i had to have some friends come up and pick me up over the weekend. I was in the BAy area on the 80 east heading to sac. A lil before the toll bridge traffic stopped but the car behind me didnt. I saw him coming up in my rear, so I try to move into the lane next to me, but traffic was coming up so i couldnt completely get over. The car hit me on my rear driver side and after he hit me he ended up hitting the car infront of me as well. And there was a 4th car that rear ended the car that rear ended me and the car infront of me. *details removed sorry, as suggested by lawyer*

Very sorry to hear that. If they don't total it you can always sue for loss of value. A pain in the *** but it may be all you have. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your bad weekend. That really sucks.......getting hit from behind like that. Some people just don't pay attention. You didn't mention injuries so I am assuming you are okay. I hope you are anyhow.

As far as your car being totalled goes.........it is hard to total a new car. The cost to repair has to exceed the value of the car. Insurance companies only total cars when it is cheaper to give you the value of the car rather than pay for repairs.

You will just have to wait until the adjuster does an estimate on repairs to know what will happen.

Good luck! I hope everything turns out the way you want it to.

Got rear ended the first week I had my ride. It was in Ch-Town but i was lucky enough that the guy only left a hexogan shaped screw hole in the perfect middle of the Z.
Look at the bright side...when you get your new bumper you can get it without the Nissan emblem. In order to remove and body fill + paint stock costs alot of $$$.
Sorry to hear that though. Hope your fien and that everything gets resolved fairly easy. My guy didnt even have insurance but I managed to get $500 from him and am yet to fix that hole....oh well.
GOOD LUCK and you have my condolences.

Later that day (at the drag strip) I saw a few pics of BoostTed's car after the accident. From the little preview window on the digital camera (hard to make out the details without seeing the full sized image), the damage looked pretty significant to the point of maybe totalling the car. Not merely a new rear bumper! I don't really know how bad it was since I couldn't make out the details, so I'll leave it up to Ted to fill us in.

Man, it sucks so much to wreck a new car. Back in 1998 I had gotten myself a brand new Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pickup. I was so stoked with it, and it was my first new vehicle. Less than 2 months after I bought it, I got in a serious wreck on the freeway. (That was my first wreck, too.) Talk about an efficient way to ruin your day!

It all works out in the end, though. You get a new car and get on with things, and the bummer of the accident fades away. Then you can just chalk it up to another of life's experiences.

Sorry to hear it man, 2 of our SS Z's have fallen (both who were going to the Sac Raceway meet). I saw your car-- doesn't look too pretty. Do EVERYTHING in your power to get a NEW car out of the wreck since it was so new. Good luck man. Sorry to hear about the fair lady

Hey BoostTed, I feel your pain, I was unfortunately hit from behind by a cop in my Brickyard Performance. It also happened on my birthday, Friday June 13th. on Rte. 13 down in DE. In the end, I received a ticket which I am still fighting, I managed to get it totaled after it was taken to a body shop that happened to help me submit suplemental damages to the insurance company so they would total it. When I went reorder the car, the color was discontinued. I waited 6 months for the car and I only had it for 3 weeks and 6 days. With only 2003 miles on it, I ended up loosing roughly $2400 with depreciation. When I did get another new Brickyard Performance, I had to do so with sacrificing the NAV. The day after I picked it up from the dealer, I broke my left leg racing my dirtbike and it sat in my garage for 5 weeks with only 120 miles on it. Trust me, this entire story is true and hopefully soon it will be posted on my website, zxrage.com. so all can see the pictures.

How can you get a ticket for being rear ended? I thought in DE but I'm not sure that if you get hit from behidn it's automatically that person's fault. I know it is in PA anyway. Well barring that you didn't pull out in front of them all of a sudden etc. Basically rear ending is guarunteed ticket for the person hitting you here in PA. For that matter for an insurance compony it almost guaruntees the same deal.

Same thing in NC, I learned that when I rear-ended someone...then they rear-ended someone else...I ended up at fault for both cars...and I got a ticket too. Get this, the ticket was for "Failure to stop"...duh, thats what happens when you hit something or someone. I thought the cop was joking, but when it came down to insurance rate hikes, I found that that cop was not joking at all...

Oh yeah, all of this happened pre-Z era. So, my baby is still safe...

From the first pic of your car (the pic of the exterior body) it doesn't look that bad at all. But then the pic of the suspension hanging down and the fact that the spring fell out. Ouch!

Did the shop say if there was frame damage? If not, then it should be repairable back to new condition. Just make sure they *replace* parts with new ones rather than fix the broken parts. When I wrecked my brand new Tacoma a few years back the damage was pretty extensive, but there was no frame damage. The shop basically just replaced (with a brand new part) every single part that had so much as a scratch on it. Truck was like new when I got it back. Had no problems whatsoever after that.
