Default Question for paint finish experts

This is a repost after 3 days I realized that I had posted in the Charter members section and I couldn't figure out the low response. I know there are some of you guys that are very knowledgeable in this so here is my question:

I just got the car and was wandering the best course of action to protect the paint finish and the differences in applications. I am lazy and don't like to spend too much time waxing and cleaning but I like the car to look nice, don't we all.

I was wandering if someone could explain what is the difference between paint sealant and the wax processes described in other threads. The only experience I have with paint sealent is my last car on which I got it as an addon from the dealer. I have had the car 3 years and the paint looks like new and has a deep wet look to it and all I have to do is wash it. In the three years all I have done is wash it and apply this solution with teflon that they gave me when I got the car about once a year.

Also, is there a chain of shops that anyone would recommend that would do the sealant or is it a do it yourself. Thanks.

The simplicity of what you ahve done the last 3 years interests me; give me more info on that product? Also, hopefully others reply to your questions also.

I did what I guess I should have done before and that was search the web. What they gave me to use, and they suggest once every 3 months but my car is garaged most of the time so I did it at first at the 6 months and then once a year, the bottle says it is "Paint Shield Cleaner" with teflon. The company that makes it is ECP and in their website they refer youto car dealers for application. Here are some of the claims:

Technologically advanced formula that seals new paint to maintain its original luster. Fortified with Teflon®* for premium protection.
Preserves your vehicle's shine.
Protects against fading.
Eliminates the need to wax.

I am trying to find out if this is for real or just BS, as I said mine is garaged most of the time so I don't know if the new look is due to the product or the time spent in the garage, so I was looking for some insight from people that are into the paint finishing procedures.
