Default question

Ok, so im 18. I am hoping to get a New 350z, maybe in February / March when the hype is down and ive saved up enough for a decent downpayment.
Has anyone heard anything about how bad the mark up will be?
I remember s2000's were $12K over list...and they sold.
Im afraid with any kind of high mark up ill be skrewed into not get Z car of my dreams....
any info would be appreciated...
oh yea, for those of you in Atlanta (everyone, it seems), TEAM Nissan in Marietta (off 41) has a brickyard touring model with frost interior...i took pics and i will see if i can get them posted, but it was absolutely beautiful...well, except for the automatic Tranny...

well since you have a long lead time, I think you may be able to get one for MSRP, or less. You should start looking around, see if you can order a car to your specifications, and get on a waiting list. Remember there are like 1000 dealers, so if you don't like what you hear at one look at another one. Also you can have the car shipped from a dealership out of state ($500 or so) or go on a road trip to pick it up and use a local dealer for all the warrenty service. Doing some calling around can save you some big money.

Good luck.

Come january alot of dealers will be having them sitting in stock is my guess. They will still be moving but not like they are now. I would suggest waiting until next spring and you will likely easily find one under MSRP

i was able to get 3k off msrp when the s2000 first came out (i didn't go for it) and i recently went to a nissan dealer and the guy offered 6k off a touring 350z (i didn't go for that either....i'm looking at the new mercedes clk). so just look around, do some negotiating, and maybe you'll get lucky.

6k off a touring? get real. The highest profit margin a Nissan dealer can see is 4k, on a fully loaded touring or track. They are not going to take a loss on a brand new car just to be nice.

you musta sucked the hell out of the managers.....
to get 6K off a brand new touring, which they could easily sell at a sick *** mark up.

Any other advice? keep it coming...this is good stuff...

It is simple, no one offered him a car at 6k under msrp. Why on earth would a dealership take a 2,000$ LOSS when they can make a minimum of 4,000$ pretty easily and in some cases mark them up even more.

I have talked to most of the dealers in the ATL and most are not going to mark it up too much and will probably go back to msrp once hype is down, if u shop around when u start lookin for a Z I am sure u will find what u want at a good price

Even paying full MSRP at this point is getting ridiculous. This car is not a limited edition run, it is not an exotic, it is not going to be rare in a few months.

Nissan is going to be selling 30,000-40,000 units a year in NA, do you think they will all be sold for MSRP? Wait 6-9 months and you will get one for 1000-2000 under sticker.

I keep hearing the Z will remain to be an order-only item. Not to be stocked in th showrooms. I hope this is true.

Nissan has stated in several places they plan to sell 30,000-48,000 units a year. You think that many people custom order cars to tailor? Try about 10-20% of that, if they are lucky.

If you think the Z is going to be a rare car in a few months, think again. It will be more common than vettes thats for sure, and if you think the C5 vettes are domestic cookie cutter crap, then dont ever try to race one with a Z. Even the base version will rip a Z up in every category, then you can talk about Z06's.
