350z trade in
SO, I went out to buy a commuter car (a maxima or something of that nature) and I ended up with a 5at 350z (long story). At the time I didnt know much about Z and growing up driving stick I didnt think it really matterd with that kind of car. I bought all kinds of mods and now, I just find myself wishing it was a 6mt. I have tons of mods I have not put on and am wondering if I should just trade it up for a newer z 6mt with the HR. I have injen true dual, strup test pipes, motordyne mrev2 and 5/16 spacer. The engine mods havent been put on yet, any suggestions? I have only had the car for about 6 months.

I jewed (sorry to the jewsih people) the guy down really bad on the car so I dont owe much on it and it only has 50k miles on a 2003. I mean it is my commuter car, but damn the auto blows.
So the mrev2 wont work either huh.

ha. I drove the 6mt and the 5at back to back, multiple times, and I love the 5at. different strokes for diferent folks.
the mrev2 and the spacer will not work. just look at that as extra $$ you can make towards your HR, if you choose to go that route. thankfully you havent installed them yet.

how much faster is the HR, anyone know or raced? Dont get me wrong, the AT is still fun to drive but I have never owned an at car, just my lifted truck for obvious reasons and I just prefer it.

honestly it is hardly noticable, but at the track it will put down a little faster time. go to the drag racing sub forum and look at the top 25 unmodded DE vs the top 25 unmodded HR for a good idea. also check out the bolt on / non FI top 25 for both, this will give you a good idea of how well each responds to your typical bolt on mods.
my parents have an 07 HR, granted it's a roadster (lil heavier) and mines a coupe, they feel really similar. the HR has a higher redline and is a little more fun to drive. I've driven both extensively and the HR is not an upgrade I care for, but it is a little better.

The HR feels like it just makes better low end IMO, the rest isn't too noticeable. Unfortunately, none of those parts will fit the HR. The manual trans is very worth it though.

HR is the best car EVER!!!!
I love standard transmission, If you can find an upgrade worth it I would do it. However you know what you need and want ultimately and should make the decision. I have an injen true dual on my HR if you want some sound comparison (not saying there aren't any out there and im the only one) but just offering. I plan on headers and art pipes down the road (so very far now that im in grad school )

Right on, well thanks for all the input. It sounds if I just put my mods on I will be just as quick as an hr. Now the automatic part.... Well, I will just stick with what I have for now then unless I somehow find someone who wants to trade a DE at for a DE mt. thanks, trash-tronic it is for now!

tyler, your posts are usually well educated and factual. I'm surprised you're on the transmission bashing bandwagon. I'd be fine with you saying the auto is garbage, an opinion is fine to have, but to claim someone else will not be happy with it is just untrue all too often. plenty of people are, including myself, and I keep up with the MT's just fine.

^^^has nothing to do with being faster, its the fun factor...that comparison is much different and there is no way in hell anyone can say that the auto is a more fun car to drive...Its pretty obvious that the op is already not happy with it and he has only had it a short time..if he is questioning it already then he will certainly question it down the road....
op go drive a few MT z's and compare /thread
