If you can pay off the Sonata and have a good $15-16k still left, definitely look into picking up an 07-08 Z if that's what you want, they are being had for <$19k these days if you're patient enough and look hard enough. Good luck with whatever route you decide to go.
thanks for the advice and yes i love the sonata its a great car never had one problem with it and i am not young i am 24 i been doing this for a while i might just go buy a z straight up no loans i seen 2 already but i just hope they are there when i get back

If your in the DC area there's a good amount of 350z's for sale for a good price. I know I've seen a lot going for 13k-17k around most year models, think til 07 or so, but mostly 03-04.

Thought about a G35?

That's what i figured, but if you plan on getting another loan I would pay off the Sonata first.

I am no financial expert, but banks are weird these days and I am not sure if they would be a fan of a young man having two car loans at the same time(no matter how miniscule they might be)

As far as what to get: I buy and sell alot of cars (about one every 6 months). As a rule, get the newest/ lowest mileage/best price i can find. I know this sounds like common sense, but some people get emotional about a particular car and disregard this principle. Take your time and play it slow. You have all the leverage due to the fact you already have a car, you have a nice chunk of cash to work with, and you are serving this country (to some people, this means alot and will work with you/do things for you).

As for particulars I would be looking for a mint 07/08, under 15k miles, clear bra would be a HUGE plus due to the craptastic paint, maintenance records, new tires, evidence of non abuse/used as a non primary car. Don't be afraid to travel a significant distance for the right car. I like to buy my cars from private sources for various reasons. Don't forget, newer cars still have factory warranties, so there is really no need to go through dealers. I would be looking to spend under 19k for a 07/08 Z. Also, at your price range you might want to think about a 370 or a C6.

Just to clear some things up, just because somebody's in the military doesn't mean they kill people, the non-combat to combat jobs are like 50 to 1...

The jerk offs flock in masses here on the inter-web i guess.....

No **** to another wise *** comment, but when someone signs up for the military I am pretty sure that they aren't guaranteed that they wont be put in the line of fire. So, just for that simple fact, these people are braver then all of us and deserve a little respect.

And doctors and EMTs save far more lives than the military does each year, so by that reasoning, doctors on forums deserve more respect than anyone else?

Bunk.
