Default 2003 350z or 2005 Audi S4 - Upgrades

This is kind of a just curious post. I’m trying to decide where to put my next batch of car upgrade money.

On one hand I have a 03 touring 6 speed 350z. It's already pretty modded out; I have every sensible bolt-on you can think of (except exterior mods). All I had left to do was get a conservative Nitrous set up, with a good tune/reflash. Target cost 1800.

Orrr... I have a 05 Audi S4, bone stock. It’s also a 6 speed, but an automatic (with some pretty responsive paddle shifters). I was just going to do some rims, exhaust, and small suspension upgrades. Target cost also 1800.

Whichever route I choose I can do that, and only that for the next year and a half.

Which would you guys do?

Start upgrading the S4, IMO. Start to have some fun with that.

Get some Tein S techs and some VMR 19" RS4 replica wheels for the S4. That would be the best bang for your buck IMO. It will look sick after that. That's the setup I had on my A4.

I would not FI your 350z, but I would vote for the NOS on your 350. Thats what setup I am going with, Stroker kit/NOS hook up. GO FOR IT. Then tell me how it is so you can be my guinea pig.

Mod the S4. I love my 4.2 in the A6. It sounds sick stock, but even sicker with an exhaust + mods.

suspension.. 300-500..

and for wheels.. I was only looking to spend no more than 800...

so min... 1800.. but no more than 2100... Again this is installed myself too...

since you already modded the 350z.. why not mod the S4?

off topic question... how reliable are the S4's? i've heard many stories of how bad audi's are.. but never really heard from the actual owners.

haha, actually not too off topic.. I kinda left that aspect out of the initial discussion. Um yeah the S4's are horribly unreliable.....

I have had my valve covers leak, both my driver and passender window regulators shred, and now my control arm bushings are bad. Plus a bunch of little ***** (trim, hydralic hood lifter arm, headlight windshield wiper cover blew off, and A/C is finicky). All by 60k miles.

I figured since I'll have the suspension apart to fix the bushings I may as well put on lowering springs, and new shocks... Since Im doing that may as well get rims and at least an exhaust.

Despite the S4 being unreliable, its so damn cool. Its faster than the Z and handles better. I just think the Z has more of a fun factor (rear wheel drive vs all wheel drive).

I financially can't get rid of the S4, Im upside by like 5k.. so I will have it for a couple of years....

what to do, what to do.....
