On the way home I passed by the dealer. I ordered the car the first week in September. It arrived today. Unfortunately I am leaving on vacation to Hawaii today and I don't have time to go through the careful inspection and paperwork hassle. So I have to wait till next Friday.
The fleet guy said they would keep it parked in the back until I come back for it. I checked the mileage and it was 24.5. So other than their test drive of a few miles, it should stay under 30.
The car did have the knee pads. I looked on the window sticker under suspension, but I did not have time to tell if there was any difference. I do remember it said it had ventilated brakes. Wasn't that one of the new running changes for 04?
What will I enjoy more this trip or thinking about my new car?

A couple of remarks…
*24.5 miles seems a little high for ‘just coming off the truck’ – mine had 6 and a lot of members had less than that.
*Ask them to keep it in the showroom, not ‘out back’. My salesman pulled mine into the showroom after the sale and prep. I had to wait a day after the sale before delivery. It was in the summer and we were afraid of a hail storm that night. When I went in the next day it was still on the showroom floor, it was fun watching them move the ‘room to get my car out.
Good luck...

I've got an 04 w/no knee pads. My car had 5 miles on it when I picked it up. 24.5 miles is pretty high for an off the truck car. looks like someone had some fun. you'll forget about it soon enough!

Don't always look at the dark side. Congrats on your new ride and pretty soon you'll be in the same boat as me ........ waiting for the damn break-in period to be over LOL
A vacation in Hawaii is not a bad place to be while thinking about your new Z

Most car plants take every x number of cars out for a spin just to make sure there is nothing hinkey developing in the process. So you'll have a bunch of new cars with only 5 or 6 miles and every once in a while one with 20 or 30 miles.
Nothing to be concerned about. Yours is probably just a bit better inspected than most.

they are on the center console right where your knee would hit, and are just soft foam or soft material. there really not neccessary, but i guess some people felt they were neccessary.
