Default First Car Accident this morning :[

Hey guys,

So while on the 405, I got into my first car accident :[ such a sad day. I underestimated my brakes and kept braking until I realized I wouldn't make it and swerved left to the carpool lane. But I was a bit to late and curbed the rear bumper of the car in front of me. My fender is jacked up, the top right bumper is torn, and the inside of my headlight seems to have been broken. I guess i'm just fuming, not really mad at anyone except myself. I know I could have avoided it, don't know why I was so slow to react.
Sorry for the pointless thread, just wanted to tell you guys :/

Also, I don't know what to do. Should I just get aftermarket parts? Or should I replace them with oem parts? Oem would probably be more expensive right? As opposed to some seibon cf fendors or dtm body parts?

Not necessarily, my insurance only went up $10 a month after my accident.

It happens to the best, live and learn. Fix your ride and keep driving.

I almost had this exact same thing happen to me. A van was trying to get into the left lane and he was going to side swipe me. I watched him the entire time to make sure he didn't hit me. I looked forward and the car in front of me was at a dead stop. I slammed the brakes and went into the left shoulder. Missed the car in front of me by inches.

It always sucks the day it happened. Tomorrow is the first day in getting things fixed! Pretty soon you'll be back up and running.

PS - what's with the painted headlights verbage in your sig?

Where did this happen exactly? The 405 is a sonofabitch, sometimes there is nothing you can do.

yea it does suck. I know I could have swerved out earlier, just don't know why I didn't. And it was going towards Irvine, near fountain valley/westminster. I might post some pics to show the damage to the fendor/headlight/bumper :[

Yea, I thought I almost made it safely, just missed it.

Btw, I've been painting headlights for some members on here for relatively cheap. Just a hobby and a way to earn some extra cash. Send me a pm if you would like yours done :]

sorry to hear about your accident. it could've been worse. now its time for a new bodykit! if the price is right i would look around for some CF parts first instead of oem.

strip the cars interior and exterior. make a really light and sweet go-cart type race car. Or make custom body panels.

Seriously though, sorry to hear. Perhaps you know some people in the auto industry who will help guide you to used or new parts for cheap as well help you rebuild her.

I passed a Silverstone Z while in the carpool lane yesterday. Does your Z have GT wheels? I may have seen you right before the accident.

Sounds like you overestimated your brakes.

In either case glad you're okay and sounds like the accident wasn't too bad. And +1 on the picture request.
