Default Having trouble deciding...

Should I get rimmed up with a killer system?

Joking. Right now I'm trying to decide between a few things. I bought my Z completely stock so as you can imagine the mod list is long and never ending. At the moment I'm trying to decide between wheels or exhaust. I really want a louder, meaner sounding Z, but I'm getting so tired at looking at my tucked in 16"s!

If I went with exhaust I'd go full with Top Speed headers, Berk test pipes, and a Borla cat back. As for wheels, probably Varrstoen ES bronze, F:19x9.5 R:19x10.5 with +22 offset. But they wouldnt be able to go on until I get some coilovers.

So anyway, what would you guys recommend?

Buy the wheels, and send me the cuttie in the passenger seat in exchange for my exhaust. you'll kill three birds with one stone. Sweet wheels, sexy exhaust and no more nagging.

+1 on the wheel washing; my first thought. haha.
maybe do half and half, half decent wheels/used. and partial exhaust/used.
Either way, send the cuttie this way.

p.s. shes well trained, not moving or touching anything in there. good girl.

i say rims!
i love your choice too, but i would prefer gold > bronze, bronze just looks like a dirty gold

rims seem to be the most respected mod for basically any car. even the kids with a corolla, if i see TE's on them i'd say nice rims. if i saw an exhaust, i'd just bash on him non-stop

both mods you might want to consider other factors
Rims:
- tires costs alot! and i mean alot
- like you said you'll also need coils, which also costs alot
- flat tire? more money
- lowered car? you'll have to adjust your driving style

Exhaust:
- potential ticket for excessive noise
- droning on the highway
- girlfriend may not like
- other adults may see you as immature

I say do all 3 at once. But if that's not an option, I say. Wheels, then exhaust then coilovers.

Definitely get the wheels first, then coils and exhaust.

Also post pics of the passenger meow!

So right now it's looking like wheels>exhaust.

The only other expense for exhaust would be installation. But as far as cops go they dont look twice at a loud car. My last car had a 3" downpipe right off the turbo and I never got any trouble for it.

Thanks so far, people! Let's get some more opinions.

I would go with wheels, sometimes you can pick up nice wheels in the forum in the private classifieds. I think exterior is more important than an exhaust.
post pics if the cutie in the passenger???

I would say exhaust but that set up you are looking at is gonna be obnoxiosly loud...
Now for the wheels you need to be lowered for it to look good.

Wheels, and just install them. They will look much better than stock, even without being lowered

This is what I'm thinking. Then I'll just need to get some coils soon after and roll the fenders.

get rims first, but to do it right, baisically you need to lower it and install camber kit for front and back(you need one for the back for sure). i have 20"(not a big fan of 20's but got it for $500 from a friend who was selling his z) lowered 1.1" using tanabe springs, that brought the car down to original height and installed a camber kit on rear, don't have one for the front, the front camber wasn't affected too much by lowering it. and later i installed bola exhaust and a few other mods.and that was five years ago.

So I'd need to get camber kits for the front and back if I lowered it with the coilovers? Where can you get them?

With this being said, what all is needed to lower the Z with coilovers? If there is something I dont have much knowledge about, it's suspension. I thought that coilovers were just about all that was required. What else?

Search the interwebz for good deals.

Also, support our forums vendors on here in the marketplace.
