I have an 06 MT Z with just over 60,000 miles on it.

No oil consumption problems on mine, I check the oil level every time just before an oil change every 5,000 miles. Dip stick oil was still a bit over min level. I use Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40.

My 06 Z was brand new on the road since April 2006, so it was the early batch.

I think the oil consumption problem is a hit or miss.

The only real problem I had as the clutch pedal got stuck 1/3 way up after you depress the pedal. It only happened during warm or hot summer street driving. Did some research and got the clutch fluid replaced with Motul DOT 5.1 and problem went away. I believe the OEM nissan clutch fluid was not good enough for the Z because it probably heat up too much.

There are minor problems like clicking noise in the trunk, but it magically disappeared by itself after a few months, don't really know why.
Also had a clutch mechanical spring clicking noise. Got the clutch pedal replaced under warranty and problem went away.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the reliability of my 2006 Z. No regrets.

04.5 Z - 87k miles. Owned since new. Passenger window on the verge of burning out. Zero problems besides that.

As long as you dont get a lemon, the Z is extremely reliable.

I read tons of threads about any problems happening to a z such as anything mentioned in "what do you dislike... and what do you hate most... about your z" threads.

So about all these problems with z such as... window not rolling down, rear clicking, clutch at 1-2 gear, road noise, tire feather, or all other problems..

Almost none of the people mention what year their z is. So my questions are
1) Are 07/08 more likely to be free of these problems than the earlier models? (Im going to be calling the previous owner about how he maintained it, check the car history, and do all the other stuff but just in case...)
2) For you 07/08 owners, do YOU guys have any minor/major problems?

I got a 2007 Enthusiast with 36k miles, Im the 2nd owner and i just bought the car 3 weeks ago. Window motor was busted when i bought it, i got that replaced already. Back right side is clicking and it pisses the **** out of me, every bump i hear it rattling... ive looked into it closely and still am coming up short in finding the problem- it might be top plastic that the spare wheel is under.. Overall, before buying this car, i was sitting on forums for a good year trying to figure out wot i wanna buy.

Sure, buying an 07/08, your guaranteed to have less problems, but i think it has alot to do with luck and also the driving pattern of the 1st owner; my guys was Asian, in his late 30's... he took care of the care but theres no question that he drove it fast and stepped on it when he wanted to! thats wot the car is for right?? Thats what I do now as well

Good luck!

2008 Base: Trunk Rattle/Clicking. Sounds like it is from the plastic "liner" pieces, but I am reluctant to pull these out (and refit) for fear of making things worse.

2005 Touring AT added 18"track Rays. This car with 45000 mi. is just as good and fun as the day I bought it. I run Goodyear gsd3 and drive as fast as I can, "within reason of course". I like the fact that I have a digital speedometer reading and that the tire pressure sensor reads the exact pressure in tires (that really helped me out recently). I use Mobil 1 oil and have done nothing to the engine except have it checked by my mechanic. No problems, great car. Runs nice on my country road at 50 or or on the open road at 120.
