Z tips, tricks, and hints
Anything you've "discovered" about your Z yet? (whether documented in the manual or not). Any other useful tips?
1. The rear hatch area mat lies on top of slippery plastic. My laptop and gym bag would slide around, scuffing up the plastic panels. I used 3M DualLock velcro in each corner. Problem solved.
2. If you forget to turn off your headlights, it will turn off after about a minute. No more dead batteries.
3. Turn off VDC for stoplight races, or when showing off acceleration to passengers. Nothing like the 1-2 chirp.
4. There are notches near the gas nozzle. Tuck your tether underneath there, and your gas cap will sit flush.
5. Best CD storage: get one of those CD visor things, fill up with your favorite CD's, and store it in the gap between your seat and the door. Outta the way, but within easy reach.
6. Hold down the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously to turn on/off the horn been when arming your car.
7. Power will remain on for ?? secs after you turn off ignition and take out the key. Great for rolling up your windows.
That's all I can think of, and please don't flame, as I'm sure these features are covered in the manual. But I thought it would be great to hear real-world practical tips, and it's also fun to "discover" something about the Z if you haven't read the manual.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to do the velcro thing. To add to that, I have another hatch area storage tip. I put a heavy computer back there and it slides around. So I got a thick rubber welcome mat (OK looking) to put there, and it grips the floor mat and the computer -- not more sliding! (Of course the floor mat slides but your velcro tip will fix that.)
Some of my favorites:
1) hold down the unlock button and the windows roll down.
2) You can use the key in the door to roll up/down the windows. Just turn and hold.
3) In the storage bin behind the passinger seat, under the mat is a recessed area to store your documents. Keeps them from flying around and being crushed by other things in the compartment.

maybe its the same as the prelude. You have power to the windows until you open the door. Of course you get pissed in that case when you are rolling up the windows then your friend jumps out of the car and you have to put the keys back in to keep rolling up the windows.

Down: Hold down the unlock button.
Up: Turn your key in the door after your ignition is off and before doors are open. I don't think there's a way to roll the windows up from your fob.
Jill, how can you "Turn your key in the door after your ignition is off and before doors are open."???
How can you put the key in the door to turn it without opening the door? What, do you stick it out the window or what???

i actually meant that you can roll up your windows after your key is out of the ignition but before you open the doors, like mentioned above. so if you're still sitting in the drivers seat, and your passenger hasn't opened the door yet, you can still roll up your windows. -end blonde moment
