Ex didn't pay for the car - wish he did I would have more money now!
I drove a Z in 2003 and wasn't all that impressed. But I test drove the 2012 Nissan Altima 4cyl coupe and was willing to settle for that. As I said I have the bike for speed.
the 350 is just a sports car - if you leave it stock it's just like every other sports car out there - it's not that big of a deal. A modded STi attracts unwanted attention.
I only use my back seat when I go to the store... I now live close enough to the dog part I can walk my dog there instead of have to drive. Even then she'd be fine in the passenger seat. But I am still iffy about it?
Nismo is nice but too much flash. Not to mention i'm on a budget.
Not too worried about snow since it never really gets all that bad here. And if it does and they want me at work they can send a deputy in a SUV to get me. (I'm a 911 dispatcher right now)

I think the majority of people here own 350z's and do not regret the decision. That said, the lack of space is a pain. the Z asks you to make a lot of compromises that the STi doesn't. In return it gives you a bit more feedback and some sexy bodywork.
Is that enough for you? because if it's not, you will regret your decision.

A heavily modded STI will be faster and you will notice it right off the bat. I have driven both and recently... The Z however sounds waaaaay better and feels waaaay more sportier and planted and is just really a drivers car. Totally different.. Just get a Z in the color you want and life will be good. The Z is a blast to drive every time out. And yeah the Z will get just as much attention as a modded loud STI will trust me..

I actually haven't had too many issue's with the amount of storage in my Z. Obviously there is no back-seat, but the trunk space is more than enough for what I need. I can even manage to fit multiple snowboards. Kinda hard to do that now that I added a sub box though

mmm Sammich truck would be handy!!! I suck at parking bigger vehicles though.
The more I drive the STi the less I want to sell it. But when I notice the 80k miles on her I get a little down. I'm one who likes low mileage vehicles - especially now that I don't have a garage and hardly any tools. I just sweated off like 10 pounds changing the oil and installing flush mount turn signals on the bike. It sucks!!
Who knows. Maybe if I get $14k out of her i'll sell - if not i'll just keep her and get over it. Will just have to find a silencer for her if I go to the police academy.
Good thing about getting a black Z is a city cop here has one so no one would know if it was me or him (he has tinted windows and I will too.. although he's bald...) Now If I go ANYWHERE i'm asked why I was there. It's getting pretty annoying. But i'll get over it.
Maybe i'll save my pennies and just get her a nice good tune. Although i'll have to drive out of state for it but hey it's all good.
