Default 25th Anniversary 350Z? Yes, it's true. (Read!)

or so rumors say.

Rumor is there is a 25th Anniversary 350Z in delvopement which is suppose to have an amazing 361hp engine. Same body though! 0-60 in 4.76. 1/4 mile is 13.23 @ 105mph. Also a new color for this model is suppose to come out, yellow. Price on this is running at $34,844 right now, and so far only 5951 are scheduled to be made. Suppose to release in 04/05. Anyone else hear this rumor?

My 2 cents: I don't think this will happen.. only because it would cost nissan a fortune to make another Z model engine after 1 year on the 350Z we have now. I do think they will have a 25th anniversary special, possible new yellow color, or an action packaged Z.. but I don't think a new engine.

Your 2cents?

Yep, I've heard about this too. Hopefully it's true. Supposed to be around $35,000.

I heard it from a different forum, and the person who posted it heard it directly from a contact in nissan. I think we all will be slightly mad. IF this does happen.. IF .. keyword.. it will not be less than 50,000 in my opinon. It would be a collectors edition.. but who knows.. Nissan went from bankrupt to 10billion in what, 1.5years with the release of the maxima back in 99-00? (I'm not 100% of thats accurate but it's in ball park).. so who knows what they have up their sleve now.....

Numbers sound too specific to be true as of now...

I thought you said 2004-2005. That would be 2-3 years from now wouldn't it?

Sounds bogus. 25th anniversary was in 1995.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Default Errr, maybe 35TH anniversary for the 2005 year model.

My 10/69 production date 240Z S/N HLS30-00051 is a 1970 model. Sooooo, do the math, and the Z car turns 35 in 2005!!!

Cheers!

Ditto. Unless they're talking about a 35th anniversery edition, it sounds way bogus.

You immediately contradicted yourself! Might want to take a lighter approach w/ your subject line to keep people from getting too excited...

Ahhhh.. 35th aye?

So either this is total bogus, or the person who told me had a typo. I do think they will do something special, but nothing extreme, my guess, the will make 2,000 yellow Z's, which are the 35th anniversary.. but thats me! Who knows what Nissan has up their sleave... only 5 years ago Nissan was almost bankrupt.. and now I believe they are a 10billion dollar corp.. so.. anythings possible!

It's certainly possible. From what I gather, the VQ motor in the 350 is heavily de-tuned. Different cams, more aggressive fuel & ignition maps, and increased redline might = 360hp.

Michael.

I don't think so. I'm by no means a car expert, but don't you think if it was that easy they would've done better than 287 already? Even like 295?

I mean, from 287 to 361 is a massive jump. I don't see how you could do that without turbos or a V8. You're talking 125% gain.

I think these "anniversary Z" claims have about as much credibility as all those that "knew" the 350Z was gonna be 300hp/5.2s ...

360Hp should not really that much of a problem for nissan. that works out to roughly 103 hp/liter. 103 per liter is easily do-able, even on pump gas.

yeah 360 shouldn't be a HUGE challange, the BMW M3 is a V6 333hp, only 27 more.. but the point isn't the power, it's how much it would cost for production for this.. which is a fortune. I doubt it'll ever be true..as I said, I think maybe 1500 yellows willbe released.
