What it reads is not what it really is, thats just an average.

When I got a full tank of gas, ran it down to "empty" (there really is some left in there) it came out to a whoping 15 mpg, I did drive a lot, mostly city, and I do get on the gas often, I think its closer to 20-21 for the freeway. Oh and my gauge said 17.3 mpg I think.

Hah, mine read at 20.9 today too. I had been getting 21-22 before I put my wheels and coilovers on. I think I drive more agressively now tho.

I remember a thread like this last year. Most everybody was saying 18 - 22 mpg. Then a few with VERY LIGHT FEET came out and said they were averaging 30 mpg!

The way I drive I would have to be going down hill for the whole tank, in sixth gear doing 55 to get 30 mpg out of it.

I guess it depends on how you like to drive.

I usually get around 17.5 mpg around town. I just took a trip to the SF bay area (98 percent freeway) and obtained 23.33 mpg (Z's calculated avg was 23.9 mpg). It has 1450 miles on it right now.

right around 20.9 a fair mix of city and highway. and less than average spirited driving; I do alot of short trips so it never gets warmed up except on the highway.

Totally depends on your average MPH. Commuting bumper to bumper on 15 an Mira Mesa Blvd in San Diego I average about 20 MPH and get about 17MPG. Taking 15 on the weekend at 70 MPH, I get 31-32 MPG. If you sit stopped in traffic half the time it's going to be pretty lousy.

17.7.....im pretty surprised too....brooklyn driving usually yields #'s more like 15...but i do a fair amount of highway driving to level it off

its gotten worse since i put my injen exhaust/intake on...i dont know if thats due to harder driving though

I average 21.8 MPG's with a good mix of Highway and freeeway driving. Correct me if I'm mistaken but the owner's manual says to use a minimum octaine rating of 91. That's the Premium stuff. My '01 Pathfinder also requires premium gas. Has alot to do with the squeezing maximum HP out of the aluminum block we all have.

Funny, I drove up to Wisconsin last weekend and was going to get gas there either way since it's more expensive in IL. So on the way up I ran pretty hard and it said 17. On the way back I treated it like a baby and it read 27.4

18-22 in the city with a bit of gear skipping. Drove Dallas to Oklahoma City and back last Saturday and averaged 26.1 at 80 mph with cruise on all the way. I have just over 3k on car.

I haven't reset it for 3 months. 6800 miles on the car.

I drive highways and city, but LA traffic.
