HR > JT9D engine. boeing is currently undergoing negotations to have the HR as the main engine of choice for the next gen 747's

I had to google that.

They'd have to reinforce the frame so much due to the HR's thrust. The HR would tear the wings off a standard 747-frame aircraft.

I heard NASA is trying to use them as auxiliary thrust boosters in their next mission flight.

yea i heard from my cousins ex husband twice removed that they were just moving to a one engine setup, but the planes needed moar reinforcement to handle the power... we will see what happens in time
