Default Transmission problem update.

Dealer called today. They asked me when I can drop off the car again so the engineers can come back out and look at it. It's going in on Monday. I applaud Nissan and my dealer for staying on top of things without me having to call them or prod them along. I have other things to worry about.

Default goin in on monday as in 'went in today, 9/9?"

or next week, 9/16? and when do you get it back. i was gonna take mine to the service center on 9/11 cuz i have off that day, since i work above grand central in the met life building.

fyi - i have 230 miles now and the sound is still there. my firend and i concurred it sounds like a metalic fan that scapes against something. and it is on and off when i am in motion, regardless of which gear, even neutral.

I never owned a manual before and others have said this is gear whine. but its not a whine. its more a rattle. if it rattles fast enough i guess it can be interpreted as whine.

Whatever your dealer does, do you think you can tell your service manager to post a fix and ask if our service manager can call them to ask what was diagnosed and how to fix.

THANKS!

raceboy,

Thanks for the update. Patiently waiting for NNA to come up with a solution. I can turn off the annoying Bose bass problem but can't turn off the shield rattling noise. It took some fun out of this great car.

Raceboy, I wonder if the extreme usage you put the transmission through to get the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times might have caused some kind of failure? I'm not saying you did anything wrong -- the transmission should be able to take that kind of punishment. But maybe it's not rugged enough for this kind of extreme duty?

BTW, it's next Monday they want the car for the guy who asked.

That is all I have done to the car, a couple of 1/4 miles and a couple of 0-60's. This car has a lot of torque, so it's not a very violent act. If the car can't handle that then it is shiite. But I doubt it. Now for the past few days, I actually haven't heard the noise.

The Nissan engineers said that they were 100% positive it was not a drivetrain issue and to drive it as hard as I normally would. That's what I have been doing.
