I was the one who filmed it.
We were all going to a meet and I was testing out a new camera. Took a few rolling shots before the wreck and was testing the 'new to me' HD video and was planning on slowly going by Hop for footage of the meet vid. I had literally just hit the record button. There was absolutely no racing going on, nor was there about to be. We were all doing the speed limit, 70mph, and had been the entire time. The supercharged black Z tapped the gas and lost it. Simple as that. Didn't even get on it that hard, if you've heard that car in person, it sounds like war when he gets on it. That little bit of gas on the cold (mid 30's and windy) & wet (they were way more wet than they look) roads was all it took. Hop was just in the wrong place at the wrong time

What strikes me is that apparently, there were no counter measures taken...
quick counter steer or lift. I know things happened pretty quickly, but I would have expected to see some hint of a counter measure by the offending car.

I saw this car at the meet, and (dumbly) wondered why someone would drive a wrecked Z to a car meet. The spot where it was parked was really muddy, so I didnt think twice about the tires/budy being a little muddy.
I think he said in another post that it was all cosmetic damage that could easily be fixed/replaced, but IIRC there looked to be a pretty big crease in the side rocker- dont know if it hit frame or not.
I also wonder if he accidentally downshifted into a lower gear than he wanted and it kicked the tires out from under him?

That's what I believed happen...
Intentionally/unintentionally
Either way even though weather wasn't that bad. At high speed which this wasn't really, yet not expecting the worse lead to over confidence in his car.
I say this cause you can do the same thing doing 20mph downshifting from 2nd to 1st will kick the tires enough that little steering input is needed!

If you were to over rev (past limiter on a down shift) it would just rev up realllly loud and high it wouldnt bounce off limiter at all.

Is this the video you guys are referring to?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjUdMmnf0ko
Yeah, i followed these guys to the meet and i know about 90% of the story.. well from what i heard. Apparently, the roads were a little wet. they were both rolling ~70mph, were about to race and the vortech sc'd z punched it and from what i heard.. he corrected when he thought he was going to need to, but ended up not even needing to so usually when his car would fishtail, then he'd correct it, it didnt fishtail and he corrected it, so it shot him into the other car. kind of confusing but maybe you'll get it..
