this is a stupid question anyway. the best model is the one that suits your needs. most people who are going to mod the crap out of their Z prefer the base. other like me that don't have the time prefer the touring or the track...minus the bose system heheh. personally i love the stock burnt orange heated leather seats you can get with the touring only.

That's a loaded question.
here's a couple things you CANNOT upgrade with factory parts once you buy the car:
1. Navigation
2. TCS
3. VDC
4. Cruise Control
5. Tire pressure monitors
You could always put aftermarket Navigation in, but it won't look as clean. You could also put in after market cruise Control, but you would have to retrofit or Replace the entire Steering wheel.
If you don't want any of this stuff, get the base.
However, if you want some of it, like TCS and Cruise control, get the enthusiast.
Stuff you can upgrade later (with much better mods): Leather seats, 18/19" wheels, Brembo/stoptech brakes, LSD, Xenon headlights, homelink w/ auto dimmer, upgraded stereo (Bose sucks), etc, etc.
So, as an example, get the Enthusiast (only 2k more than base), and you will get the LSD, TCS, Xenon Headlights, cruise control, aluminum pedals, homelink w/dimmer rearview mirror.
After that you can easily upgrade to 18" wheels, leather, better brakes and better stereo.
However, you cannot upgrade the VDC and tire pressure monitors (which come standard on performance/touring/track)

I have the Base, and I wish I got the Enthusiast. You do no get cruise or HID's on the Base, and VDC or TCS either.
Plus no limited slip differential I believe.
Best bang for the buck if you wanna mod is the Enthusiast in my opinion. I should have waited but my buy was an impulse one!

Whichever one you get the best deal on!!! I didn't focus too much on trim level since I am more interested in the performance aspect of the vehicle. Patience and luck rewarded me with a Track model with a price tag close to that of an enthusiast.

For Luxury and simplicity (of not having to do anything aftermarket), go Touring because of the leather (if u like leather).
If you're going to track the car, just get the track model because of the brembos, which cost around 3k to 5k aftermarket. Plus you get the rays wheels which kick ***.
If you don't want the leather & don't wanna track the car, just get the enthus, cuz u get the HID's and the TCS, and the LSD (HUGE necessity imo).

track. only the coo-est ppl drive tracks.
hehe
really though, you have to sit down and think about what you want to do with your car. are you going to be willing/able to spend money after you purchase it on aftermarket stuff as well as make the car payments?
if so, what kind of mods do you want to do?
the track was the best package for me, b/c it has many of the things that i'd want to do to my car afterwards, but i get to pay for them via the financing of my car rather than trying to purchase those mods in full.
the track my have things that you don't want (18s) if you'd really rather have 19s then you might not want to spend the extra thousands up front.

Id agree; enthusiast model.
2 other things you cant add on tho are heated seats and heated side mirrors. you can add leather but not the rest.
if you only add up what you can possibly add youll find you can easily add leather and a stereo or rims and brakes for the price difference over the enthusiast. its whether the difference is worthwhile for TPM and VDC.

depends on what you want....
i want a stripped car so i can mod it, so i would get enthusiast (need cruise).
some people don't like to mod but like leather, so they would go with touring.
some people want high performance without modding so they can get the track model.
all depends on what you want.

I've had the same concern for some time now. I probably won't be purchasing a Z for another few months but based on my research i've would have to say the Performance Model, which adds the VDC and 18inch rims.
I have to do a little bit more research but the way i'm looking at is i'll probably go with the Stoptech brake kit (all 4), 19inch rims, K&W coilovers. With these mods, the 18s that would come stock on the performance i can use for the winter and have the 19s for the summer. I plan on going to the track often so i'd rather have the stoptechs than the Brembos that come standard on the track model.
Anyway, I don't think the 17s that come with the enthusiast will fit the stoptech BBK. I think the perf 18s will as they are close to the track model rims 18x8 vs Rays 18x8(F) & 18x8.5(R)
So it all depends on what you want to do with the car. I would definitely suggest that you think about what ur needs are and if you want to mod the car. If u plan on modding go with either the enthusiast or performance.

i was considering stoptech as well for my enth. but the 17s won't accomodate. oh well, i guess i will just have to sell them.
I think Enth. is the best package cuz the HIDs are a must for me.
Can't live without them. Everything else comes down to how much you want to spend.

Same dilemma here--especially with the salesman pushing the Performance/Touring models. Ultimately went with the Enthusiast for all the items mentioned previously, THEN I swapped out the wheels for Nismo's, tires for Goodyear and exaust for Nismo.
After looking over all the available trim levels and what I wanted to do with the car aftermarket, I felt the Enthusiast was the best bang for the $.
All I'd like now are Brembo's, or Stop-Tech brakes (bling-bling), but I think I'll wait a little while on those.
