Okay before you get discourage. I make $1600/month.

$770+ student loans/month
$730+ apartment rents/month
$300+ utility bills and expenses/month
$300 insurance/month for an XB, Corolla, and my new 350z
$370 XB car payment/month

So far for all three of my cars, I have done oil changes, full brake system for the XB ($230), will be getting full brake system ($150) for the corolla and sometimes in the near few months, ($900 title transfer due in next few days), new brake pads, oil changes, filter, etc on the 350Z.

If I can manage you can too. It all depends on how much you can save and how to invest and manage your money.

So, as you can see there are others who are in more worst situation than you are. But, like everyone said, if you think you can afford it, than go for it. If not than be wise and take the alternative routes.

Btw, the Z cost me $16,000 cash out of my pocket. Next year when I'm done paying off the XB. 370Z here I come.

If he still living with his parents with just a cell phone bill and no other bills. Might as well get a 370z with that money. $800/month for 370z + insurance + cell phone bills. He still got $400-$500 extra.

This is exactly whats wrong with the youth of today. They can't even do simple math.

$770+$730+$300= BROKE on $1600 a month and you haven't even paid your insurance or current car payment.

FTR 770+730+300+300+370=$2470/month

Do your self a favor. Look at something more practical to start and stay within your means.

Think of it this way. Z's will always be around. If you want a 350Z later down the road you'll be able to afford a nice one that won't have any of the issues you're looking to avoid. Most likely there will be guys like me who have fully built Z's, with lower miles, and meticulously cared for, that will probably be covered and garaged for quite some time.

A word of advice my insurance guy tells me every time I complain about my insurance. If you want insurance to be affordable...don't own anything with a Z, S, T, or R in it's badging.

Yeah since math is the single most important thing in life. You live and die by "MATH". I live a different life and I ain't no dumbass youngster. I don't need to do the math since I know what I can afford even if all those combine is over my monthly income. I have not even mention about spouse, savings account, extra money on the side, etc. I know my financial situations. Just because you guys are OLD, don't mean you're right all the time.

So you have a sugar momma and a second job? You should probably have clarified that bc I don't think the OP is in a similar situation.

OP seems like a guy who could actually make some smart decisions. I don't think find a sugar momma and suck a 370Z out of her is solid advice.

Im far from old btw.

[shakes head ruefully]

Buy a cheap POS and save your money. Use it to go to college and then consider marriage and procreation BEFORE you go broke on a nice car (and have to sell it fast for pennies on the dollar becaue you are broke and your parents got sick of you being around). 'It'll never happen to me! I am smarterer than you think!'

Old people are wise because we made the same stupid mistakes (or saw others do it) and try to help young buck out. Ignore us at your own peril!

Don't take anything seriously man. It's all in fun. I'm not telling OP to buy a 370z. I'm just throwing stuff out so he have a lot of choices from all of us and think whats best for him. I don't have a sugar momma but a sugar babe. I don't have a second job but have savings & extra cash if I ever needed for anything.

I'm in college, on scholarship. My tuition is paid for. Books rarely ever cost me more than 300 a semester . I DO own a car right now. Its an 07 Base Cobalt. I mentioned insurance is covered by my parents. My cell phone bill is 100 bucks a month. So technically, I have 1200. WORST case scenario I have to drop 300 on monthly payment, which still leaves me about 800 bucks to play around with. Let's say I burn through 300 bucks worth of gas in a month, leaves me with 500 bucks to save for the future, or spend on the car if something goes wrong.

I think what I left out is that I'm not entirely on my own on this. Im 19, I'll be living at home until I'm done with my community college. If my car ever hits a snag, my parents will go 50/50 with me on it.

Also, payments on a Cobalt would still come out to be the same...I'm not looking at 07 350z's with 20,000 miles. Looking at 03/04 with ~100,000miles.

Not to mention I will be putting about 3.5-4k down on the car so I won't go upside down on it. If the winters really do get bad, I have a car I can drive for the winter. (99 cavalier lololol)

It seems like you've already made your decision before you posted and only wanted justification from fellow members. With everything you've posted about your financial situation and current status, I'd say just get the 350Z, continue what you're doing, and dump all your money to finish paying off that 350Z ASAP. Or maybe save up those 1200 to buy one cash. I found my 03 last november with 88K miles for 6K and have had zero issues thus far, besides a faulty gas cap that occasionally makes the CEL come on. If I were you, I'd save up to buy one cash.

Practically the same story as me, except mine had 78k and cost nearly twice as much

Also had the issue with the gas cap. Just started yesterday, so I replaced it today. Minor inconvenience at most.
