My car is in this weeks production build...
My salesman called me yesterday and told me that according to their latest reports from Nissan, my order was in this weeks manufacturing build. He thinks that means that it will be built this week, and we will have a VIN next week. I ordered in April and was told expect a November delivery date.
Today I went out to the Baker Jackson website to see what they had in inventory. They have a Silverstone and a Chrome Silver Touring model that preorders backed out of. These are so close to what I ordered (the only difference being the CS in their inventory doesn't have the trunk mat), that I asked my saleman if they would sell me the one they have now at MSRP, and then they could have mine when it comes in. He told me that a person came in and offered $4K over MSRP, and sales management at Baker Jackson told the guy no deal. Another person asked for a test drive, and the dealer said will you buy it, and the guy said I'm thinking about, I'll let you know after the test drive, and sales management said no thanks. They let them both walk away. The only way for me to get the car is to wait for my pre-order at MSRP.
Lastly, I took an existing VIN (#1000) to be exact, since that is one of the VIN's at Baker Jackson, and I received an insurance quote. $728 for the year. Not bad for Houston, Texas.
