Over the last month, the streets have been frozen or flooded or covered in light snow. No slipping whatsoever. Cars rear hasn't kicked out once. I have no stability control as I have the base. Who are all these people spinning out and crashing? Complaining about traction issues in bad weather? I have all seasons. I make an effort to drive on painted surfaces..for fun. No issues at all.... makes me wonder why so many people complain about the cars traction in poor weather conditions....

I was going for irresponsible..but over confident works too.

Go slow in snow,
Do speed limit in rain.
Don't punch it around corners.
Pay attention to the road in front of you.
Avoid the center lane when raining because puddles can back up against the median

Best answer!!! Around '06, my rims and tires were barely over 1000 miles, I almost lost my car because I was driving too confidently thinking I can drive through torrential rain. Having no feel for a few seconds on the steering wheel during that drive was too scary for me. Thankfully, I did not spin out, but it was a lesson on not to drive like an azz in rain.

 

At least you learned. I have friends that think they are good drivers, who have spun out 4 bangers in the rain and continue to drive like idiots. As soon as one discovers that all the confidence in the world can't beat physics, they are a better person.

 

All seasons are definitely the way to go. They are for the lazy guy/girl that doesn't want to bother with the changing season hassle. I have traction control, and all seasons....hardly ever loose grip. But I do know my limits. Cornering gets a bit hairy, I actually like to start a corner in mid-down shift. So the clutch is engaged, and slowing the momentum while turning.

I had a similar thing happen to me. It was raining pretty good and I was getting off exit and at the end of exit there is a lane that you make your right turn on and I downshifted too quickly and spun the back out, but caught it in time to miss the curve. I think you just got to drive slower and much more careful in bad weather conditions. Also when slowing down, shift into neutral before putting into lower gear works everytime for me.

Or you mean to tell me these cars handle worse than 454 chevelles., Big block
chargers, 'Cudas and the like. Which were and are driven like maniacs and hardly ever hear of a spin-out. Go start flaming see if your entitled victory comes in.

 

I drive like a granny with my Z. I know where my limit is with my beater car and I know that my Z can damn well outperform it but I try not to push past my limits because I love my Z way too much to see it get towed out of a ditch or or a scene from an accident.

Rain is fun, I love it. Snow on the other hand, never drove my Z on it but it's a ***** lol

 

This thread is full of talk of confidence behind the wheel. Lets face it, if your on this site your a car guy (or girl) and car guys love driving and everything about it. I put my car away for the winter not because of fear of losing traction, thats fun. It occupies that garage all winter simply because of the following; salt and sand (boulders), frost heaves, slush, snow banks and all the other not so confident drivers that think they can drive the same in the winter as the summer. My truck is better suited for the winter and has battle scares from years of Maine winters, but its a truck so its ok. I would not feel that same way looking at a sand blasted front end on my Z.

 

agreed! im 21 bought myself a Z as a birthday gift to myself. Living in new england we have a bunch of dumb young overly confident drivers that think they are invincible. Im not going to sit here and act like a saint i do speed and drift corners here and there but i am not stupid enough to think i am unstoppable. i dont even attempt to drive the Z when there is snow on the ground, not cause im scared or inexperience but because of the other young foolish drivers that think they are unstopable even in the snow

Lol you should cause if you're a conscious driver there's really little you can do to lose control with a Z in such a way that you wouldn't be able to do with any other regular car.

 

No I meant that I don't care if you have a Z for a beater. Why are you telling me this? I don't care.

 

It comes down to having common sense.

Remain civil 99% of the time on public streets. Save that 1% for spirited driving at the right moments.
