Default 350Z v. G35 Are They Too Much Alike?

I purchased a 350Z a few months ago and I also own a 1997 Saab 9000 Aero, which I use as my practical every day car. I am considering selling the Saab and buying a G35 Coupe as my every day practical automobile. What are your opinions regarding the question of whether or not the 350Z and the G35 Coupe, when owned together, are “too much alike” to give me the expected joy and benefit of owning two truly different vehicles?

have seriously been thinking about trading
it for a G.

my ONLY problem would be........wich one to buy parts for???? i cant imagine trying to mod 2 cars at once! at the same time, i have already started on my Z. if i got a g too, i KNOW i would mod that as well!! thats why our second car is an 03 altimia 3.5LVQ! GREAT motor! but its an A/T, and my wifes, so im not very interested in modding it! (that and she wont let me! all i wanted was 20" spinners on it????) she almost got a A/T (cant drive a stick) base model dark silver Z!(i cant remember the name of that color???) but she decide that she wanted more room in her car. for buissnes trips. that wouldve been pretty cool though, his and hers Z's!

Default I'd think so...

If you're looking for a different driving experience, don't go G35. It is very similar to the Z, albeit with mushier handling, smoother ride, and a little less speed.

On the other hand, if you basically want another Z but need for seats...the G35 might be your ticket. Be prepared to deal with the same problems as the Z though, b/c with the exception of tire feathering and window streaks the cars have the same probs. I know the G35 peeps would like to believe it isn't so..but just read their forums. :-) Good thing infiniti service is awesome.

I looked at both cars carefully and decided on the Z (even with two kids) But both? It's like ordering a side of ziti to go with your spaghetti! Bon appetite.

i think they are too much alike. why buy a g when you already have a sexy car. i would go for all out performance for the second car. get an sti. plus it's a great winter car, which the g35c is not (great, that is).

04' Acura TL would be a really good choice for a daily driver!

Although they are different in many respects, I think they are just too similar to own both. IMO it would be one or the other. But the biggest reason not to have both is that neither is really a good winter car for our NJ weather. If you want a G35 maybe consider the 4 wheel drive sedan...it's not quite as sexy but it's a pretty nice car with the same engine.

I think it would be wiser to spend your money on a G35 sedan than coupe. practicality should include 4 seats, 4 easy to get to seats.

Does anyone know if there are plans for an all wheel drive G35. I'd buy that over a comparable Audi or Volvo AWD Sedan anyday.

Also: Probably covered elsewhere but are there plans for a convertible G35?

I really liked the G35 but went with the 350Z Roadster because it is a convertible. And like others have said, the G35 wouldn't be a great winter car. I went with the two car strategy previously suggested: Roadster for summer fun. Jeep for winter slogging.

IMO the G coupe is basically a Z 2+2. I agree with ares...

If you want to seat four, you should get a good 4-door sports sedan.

BTW, my daily driver is a ’00 Maxima SE, which I love. I have a 50-mile daily commute. The Max has enough performance for my commute, a nice ride, and practicality when I need to seat 4.

Coupes and sedan's also don't have the bounce issues either, definately agree about the mushier handling, but that's why I installed the 350Z suspension on my sedan, just wish I didn't have the same bounce issues however, which really sucks.
