Try this approach. It worked for me:
Meet in person with the dealer and explain that you don't want the car. Offer to "supply a buyer" to fulfill the contractual obligation.......or if they'd prefer to refund the deposit, that would be OK also. Those are the only two choices.
They will be better off selling the car themselves. Under no circumstances give up the car without getting your deposit back. The contract goes both ways.
