Thoughts on this craigslist S2k trade offer!!??
My car is an 03 Track Edition with 43k miles. 9/10 interior. 7.5/10 exterior (solely due to two scratches on hood and on scratch on side, not bad but to me it is). Most importantly it has a clean title and clean carfax. Runs/drives great. Never had a hiccup or check engine light. Just painted wheels and accessories black. Zero mods, completely unmolested.
Trade offered is a 2000 Honda S2000 w/97k miles. Clean title. interior 9/10 exterior 10/10
Modes include:
Lowered on espilir springes w/driveshaft spacers and rebuilt shocks
n1 header back exhaust w/cat delete
rear single exhaust trim piece
k@n fipk intake
real volk ce28le wheels w/dark hyper silver paint
vis racing carbon fiber hood
Laguna seca blue paint w/shaved badges
stage 3 clutch
aftermarket rear end w/higher gears
What are your thoughts? I have been a Z man for years. That vtec engine has me intrigued though. 12k rev!! I am 6'3" so space is something to consider. Ultimately which has the most value, most fun, and most manliness.
attached are pictures of both
To give some perspective I currently have my car listed for 12 on craigslist and 11.5 on forums

I'm 5'6" 150 lbs and the s2k was too small for me. Not to mention every s2k felt like it had been beat on (one had a trailer hitch on it wtf) Everything about you car is better except the pictures you took.
IMO, the Z is a far better all-around car, especially since yours is a low-mileage track version. The S2K does have that go-kart feel, which is fun for a while, but I can't imagine that keeping me happy in the long-term. As for that 12K redline and 97K miles, I'd guess the equivalent wear and tear would be equal to 4X what's on your Z engine at only 43K.
Your call, of course, but on this forum, the consensus is obviously going to be heavily skewed to the Z side of the equation.

Only cool thing about the s2k is the redline. But then it's like a bj and as soon as your enjoying it she stops. Meaning the power that car doesn't have is awful. Iv seen sc s2k get stomped by na Zs

Yea i thought they were 9k not 12k... lol if you want high revving engine go get a sport bike, 15k redline... and u will be going pretty fast...
S2k is a sexy car, but u would have to be revving the crap out of it to hit vtech and still woukdnt be faster than your Z. Theres no tourque. I feel like my Z is slow, and would imagine the honda is even slower...

If you're going to consider a S2000, at least find one that's as unmolested as yours. IMO, I wouldn't even consider an AP1 I would shoot strait for the AP2.
If you like good handling cars that must be revved to make power, the S2K is awesome. My best friend had one as a DD & autocross car for years. With Potenza RE11's and no other mods it was crazy fun. Offramps at 100+? No problem. Just like a rotary car, keep the revs up and it's a blast.
Similar to the FC RX7, the S2000 had a 4 wheel steer/active toe system that few people take note of. Its reputation for being tricky to drive fast comes from people who are unaware of this. In hard cornering, weight transfers to the outside, making the suspension compress. When the rear suspension goes far into bump, it toes out significantly. The Ackerman changes and the car turns tighter than it normally would. You can feel it in a stock S2000 with sticky tires, but because the one for trade has stiff lowering springs it may not travel far enough in bump to toe out very much. Early AP1's had more of this toe change than late AP1's, and AP2's had the suspension settings relaxed even further.
Anyways, if it was up to me I'd absolutely make the trade.

Buy one that hasn't been molested if you must have one. My favorite thing about my 350z is the fact you dont have to rev the **** out of it to accelerate. Tweaky peaky motors are awesome until you actually have to drive it on the street. If this car will be used exclusively on a track it might be no big deal. A 350z looks and sounds more manly.
6,3 you are too tall, don't get it. I am 6,1and do not fit... I am a honda guy, so I have an ae 86 with an f20c project car. About the same weight, maybe less. I would like to finish it but the z has put a halt on it...

You only have 43K miles dude!? Keep your Z!
1) I'm 6'2" and I didn't buy an s2k because it's wayyy too small man. At 6'3" your going to be uncomfortable in the Honda.
2) Yea the s2k has cool mods on it but that means the owner is an enthusiast...who knows how he's been driving that car. Sounds like your car is in good shape.
3) Your Z with 43k miles is way more valuable at this point than the s2k.
4) Compared to the Z, an s2k looks like a chick car.
A con I can think of is that the s2k is a fun car to drive but the Z isn't exactly a plain Jane herself. The trade off is that the Z is more comfortable.
Good luck with your decision dude.

Dude ask the same question over at the s2k forum... and weigh in your options then. It'll be even Stevens mang, pick your poison. Although if you are going to trade, I'd go ap2 later models.
Haha I agree, I should have expected nothing less from the Z forum. Great feedback though, I know little to nothing about the s2000. You guys are affirming my decision to stay Z, I just have some car friends who think s2k are the **** so they were encouraging me to trade. Z is bigger, manlier, and has more power. Z forum ftw.
I've personally have seen that car multiple times at import alliance, it use to be sponsored by bridgestone by the previous owner. He babied that car, the only reason he sold it was to get his dream car (nsx). I know the new owner changed up the wheels and added the hood etc. If you have any questions just let me know, I know the body shop that did the paint job and his work is great. I love my Z but that is one of my favorite s2ks I have ever seen.

that is the link to the body shop that did most the work if you want to check them out.
and I would ask the same questions on s2ki as well, so you don't get a biased opinion and might find out more about the car. I know it is pretty well known in the s2k scene.
link to the original seller as well! http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showth...guna-Seca-Blue
hope this helps.

I'm 6'1 and fit just fine in an S2k, plenty of room. I don't even think I put the seat all the way back. I have many friends taller than my who drove them.
