Default Stripped Nut on lower control arm help!

I was trying to install my D2 coilovers on my car today and when I was trying to take out the nut and bolt I stripped the nut where the lower fork is. I've tried everything from PB blast to bolt extractors and the thing just won't come off can anybody give me some advice on how I should go about taking it off?

Did you strip the outside of the nut so you can't get a wrench on it, or did you strip the threads on the nut and/or bolt so the nut turns but won't thread off?

I stripped the outside of the nut so the wrench won't catch the nut

Forget the gator grips those things suck...what you need are nut splitter or these nut/bolt extractors

I've used a carbide-tipped one which cut metal like butter, but I suppose some work better than others. Better than having the threads stripped, though, so You'll probably find something which works. Any oxyacetylene torch would also work quite well, if all else fails. Good luck.

Did you try turning the other side of the bolt and holding the stripped out one with a smaller sized socket that you hammer on kind of so you can apply pressure and un-thread it?

What were you using on that bolt? It looks like you were using a pair of pliers.

after it was stripped I used the bolt grips and that's why the nut looks all deformed

A cutting wheel and a cold chisel will make quick work of that. You'll need to replace the bolt or re-cut it with a thread chaser. And wear eye protection!!

Actually I just replaced the front shocks on my car with some newer 08 ones since I am doing other things besides coilovers. Make sure you get a 6 point box end wrench (the ones that are circular without the opening on the end) put it on there and use your foot or hit it a couple times with a hammer. You should be able to get it to come off from the other side where the bolt is still good. Trust me they are a beech to break loose but some WD 40 and a hammer will help.

Just cut it off and replace it with a grade 8 bolt from lowes or advance. That's what I did. I believe it's a 7/16th or 3/8

I just stripped this same bolt this weekend. I cut it off with a dremel and replaced it. Took about 5min to cut and a trip to ace hardware.

Impact to the bolt side will get it started without messing up the bolt.
