My car is HERE!
I was expecting my car to be here tomorrow, but I figured I'd drive by the dealer today. After all, Elizabeth isn't too far from CT. As I pull in, I see 2 Z's. One's Chrome Silver, 18 in wheels....As I get closer, I look at the options, and they match mine, and I look at the VIN, and it's MINE!
Needless to say, I jumped around like a little boy with a new balloon. The dealers were all pretty excited, though really not as much as I would have expected. I had the chance to sit in it and start the engine before it got sent off for PDI. Possibly against my better judgement, I've consented to have them wax it. I know, I know, before I hear all the negative comments, I think it's probably better. I'm not going to have the time to wax it in the immediate future, and it's probably better to leave it with some protection.
The engine sounds AWESOME! I can't wait to take it on the road.
No pics today, I'm taking it to show a friend in Norwalk. I'll definitely have some by tomorrow.
EXCITED in CT.

Hey Rouxeny - it feels good to feel good, doesn't it?
I see my car has made it from Davenport, IA to Lincoln, NE (400 miles) in ONLY nine days on Dependable Auto Shippers. At this rate, it will arrive in California sometime in November.
Welcome to the Z owners club.

Geez! Only four hours to go till I pick it up. I think I'm going to go back to the dealer and watch!
So, today is 1) My first day of vacation, 2) my Z day, 3) my birthday! Turn 27 today.
I don't think it gets much better than this.

Mine is here also. I wasn't expecting it until later this month. I should be picking up later this afternoon.

Rouxeny, you should've seen me when I got the news, I was hollering like a dumbass making a fool of myself in fromnt of a bucnh of people. But who cares, I got the Z, and they probably dont.
I'm still waiting, only 90 or so minutes left. I think I'm headed back to the dealer...I can't take it anymore.
Unfortunately, North Haven is in the midst of a raging rain storm. I kept hitting puddles in my Accord and feeling the car slide. I hope the traction control works pretty well!

Impressions!
I just spent the evening in the Z and I'll post my impressions.
Delivery - Executive Nissan did a pretty good job. They may not have known much about the pre-order process, but they didn't play any games with pricing or protection packages. I have no front license or "Executive Jeep/Nissan" sticker as I had specified. The wax job is tolerable. Most importantly, the salesmen FINALLY showed some excitement at what they were selling me. It's about time. I met another my350Z'er there, Chris from West Haven got a nice Silverstone. It was pretty funny how we just bumped into each other. Oh, and the weather cleared up by the time I got the car.
Next stop, The Rib House in Branford for a nice birthday dinner with some friends, all of whom oogled the Z. If you like ribs, this is the place to go. The ribs are awesome, and our waitress, well, she by herself was a good enough reason to visit. Everybody performed a 5-minute surgical scrub after eating such as to not put rib sauce stains on the Z.
After that, I drove my roommate around town for a little. The biggest thing I notice is how many people stare. It's really incredible. Some kid in a WRX tailed me for a while, talking on his cell. An Integra GSR pulled up along side, a car full of college students drove shotgun for a while. Some guys in a SUV gave me a thumbs up.
Driving impressions. The car is SOLID. It feels incredibly planted to the pavement. I took turns at speeds I never would have considered in the Accord. At speeds, the car tracks true. To use an overused cliche, it feels like it's on rails. Think, and it goes. Another thing would be TORQUE. I take the average 90 degree stop light turn in third with no bogging. Some more obtuse ones, you could probably do in fourth. At any gear, step on the gas and the car goes. I could drive at about 40mph in 6th with comfort. One thing I found surprising is that even in 6th gear, at highway speeds, the RPMs remain fairly high. I thought they would be a little lower. SPEED. I thought at first that the car didn't seem that fast, then I realized I was babying it, and drove it the way it should be driven. With a little juice, shifting becomes much smoother. Oh, don't even start me on the stick. Wow. A very mechanical feel, but it clunks into the next gear with no fuss at all. One negative, the stick really does vibrate a lot. My right arm is sore from holding it. I think I'll have to learn to drive without resting my hand on the stick. SOUND. I'm suprised by how quiet the Z is with the windows up. You barely get any hit of engine note. With the windows down, it's much better. A little growl for scaring the neighbours.
Finally, the BOSE radio. I admit, I was one of the more vigorous supporters for the BOSE. I figured that most people in the US would like it. Unfortunately, I'm not included in those people. It really does stink. The automatic volume control issue has been discussed to death, and I must say, "I agree completely." It is very random in how it changes volume. Secondly, the bass is overwhelming. Set to "0", it's still too much. I currently have it on "-2." At higher volumes, the radio does sound much better, but then you can't talk to the person sitting next to you.
Well, sorry, no pictures. I'm exhausted, one hour of sleep on call yesterday, and WAY too much excitement today. I promise, plenty tomorrow.

Fantastic! Thanks for the review, rouxeny! Man, that COMPLETELY sucks *** about the Bose, I for one won't have the money to change the whole damn system to something decent. The vibrating shifter may be a good thing, I had always heard it's bad to rest your hand on it. Maybe that's BS but I've never gotten around to researching it.
Once again, congratulations on getting it today! Man, I got excited just reading about it. I so can't wait for mine...grrr.

Hey Andrew!!...
I met you at the dealership when you and I believe Chris?, were picking up your Zs!! First I met Chris... and was checking his Z out, then I met up with you and sat in YOUR Z. You were so excited, you were letting everyone take a turn sitting in that awesome Z. After sitting in it... I had to go inside and put a deposit on my very own Z! YEAH! Mine should be in by mid October. Counting the days.
GOOD LUCK to you and Chris with your new Zs!
