I really want a Z. I can afford the payments, but I don't know if that would be practical use of $. My 95 taurus is falling apart and I need a new car, but the Z might not be the most practical thing......to make a long story shorter, I am considering an Acura CL-S (used) for 26k instead of the Z. Back seats, FWD (i live in new england), cheaper, very reliable, etc.
Please, I want a Z! Convince me.
thanks

to be completely honest, if practicality is your main issue, the z isn't going to satisfy that issue, especially if you live in new england. it may, however, make up for being less practical in every other category. especially on an emotional level . . . it'll definitely get your juices flowing.
i'm not saying that you shouldn't get the Z, but if you're looking at a used CL-S for 26k, i think you are getting ripped off. i think a better car for that kind of money is the Subaru WRX, which has been getting rave reviews for performance and has AWD. if you can get used to the styling, that might be a better option.

You have chosen to ask us,avid 350z freaks, which to buy. There is only one answer for those of us here. BUY THE 350Z. Get something with 4 wheel or front wheel drive for those bad winter days and save the Z for styling and profiling.

If I might throw my 2 cents in....
Maybe save a few more thousand and get the only car with a backseat for under $30,000 worth thinking about...

Seriously... what a great car... see more photos by clicking the news link at the top of this page, then coming down to the bottom to view the G35 Coupe images.

I really appreciate any and all advice. I just need some reassurance

Ask yourself - do you want a sports car, or would you rather be "practical"?
Nothing wrong with practical... but just imagine getting in your car at the start of your day, and as you start the engine... Picture that moment. In the CL, you may have second thoughts. In the Z, you will not.
I got the answer to your dilemma... Move to Florida! Leave the cold snowy winters behind! I'm sure there are Patriot fans in Florida, you'll feel right at home.
Besides, just picture yourself driving in your Z in South Beach.
With that in mind I think I might move there.

Being a previous owner of an 01' CL-S (mine was a Sundance Gold or "Pimp Daddy Gold" CL) I can tell you first hand that
a) they are "good" cars (besides the sunroof rattles, rear-deck rattles, transmission problems, and paint problems)
b) going from a Taurus to a CL will be a huge improvement
c) before you get a CL, check out acura-cl.com, they have great insight into all aspects of the car
d) like everyone else has been saying, if you need to be convinced to buy the Z over the CL, then you probably shouldn't be looking at the Z at all.
Again, you are comparing apples and oranges. If you want a sports car, get a Z. If you want a sports coupe check out the CL, but make sure you do your homework first.
Just my $.02

how many people in your area have an Acura CL?
now, how many people do think are ordering the Z in your area?
Dude........... GO WITH THE Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As the old saying goes, you only live once.

i dunno if someone already posted this solution since it's such an obvious one...
how about the g35 coupe? it looks really nice, and is a 350z with back seats. it's only slightly slower, but, heck, its faster than the cl, or should be, with 280+ horsepower!
