I may have missed it, but what's the mileage? 6MT or 5AT? Any sentimental value to you? Can you find another like it cheaper?

It's an 03 5AT (wife afraid of MT) right at 122K. I wouldn't necessarily say it had any sentimental value but my wife fell in love with it and has babied her. She's cried all day and night between being in pain and the thought of it being a total loss. I'm sure I could find another one but not for what we paid for this one.

If she loves it that much then you should fix it. Happy wife, happy life.

Edit: You should have the shop look it over before you make the final decision.

It looks like a lot of damage and and given the age and mileage it looks like a total loss, but I am no insurance adjuster. Just from the pictures it needs at least new front and rear fenders, door, and airbags(seat?). Mind you the rear fender is spot welded on and just that can be enough to total an 03 Z.

Oh ya, it's a total loss. She took it to the body shop around the corner, yes it still drives; the QP cuts into the tire though so I bent it back out of the way. Her pops uses a BS by his house and said he'd take it to them if we wanted. I've got an old friend that use to be in the BS business but it's been a while since we talked so I might hit him up too. For now I'm waiting on the insurance co to come out and look at it, and will go from there.

On a side note, this would make for a killer build thread!

No Mustang should think about messing with it then.

lol, keep in mind "it's the wife's car" so no TT. She's taking the car to my buddy now, the insurance adjuster will be out around 12. Fingers crossed for some god news. Hoping I can get it not salvaged have my buddies shop do the body work and throw a coat of primer on her then dump the rest into new shoes, suspension, exhaust (pipe got bent) etc with leftover cash.

Well I got some what of a relief, my buddy said definitely repairable and not totaled (he said he's seen worse and fixed worse). Now it's on the adjuster, I'm going to see if I can talk him into going just before totaled to get the maximum allowed.

Glad your wife is okay. Sorry about the car.

Pure curiosity has me in for an adjuster update though

Hoping for the best

Well the adjuster just left and with the airbags alone we were at 3500 which is over 50% of the value of car so that alone had it at a total loss. I am on my way to talk to my buddy at the body shop to see how much he will charge me to do the work. Of course that will be all out-of-pocket money so it will take a little bit longer than expected. I will definitely start a build thread on this. Stay tuned for more and any help on locating parts would be greatly appreciated.

It really sucks to see such a nice Z being destroyed like that over someone else's idiotic driving. The important thing is that your wife is okay. You can replace everything you own but you can't do the same to a human life.

I guess I should update everyone on that end of the wreck....

Apparently this nice young model citizen has been showing off his driving skills all around town and the cops have been on the hunt. Thanks to a co-worker, shout out to the Honda Fan Boy that he is, for being on Social Media and seeing numerous postings about this well respected young man. He has done everything from speeding in a school zone to running others off the road. It shouldn't be a matter of time now before he's caught. When he does get caught my attorney has a list of charges he wants to bring up against him.

The sad thing is, that is the description of 80% of the cars on the road here.

If you hear loud exhaust 9 times out of 10 it is a mustang or a pickup.

He will run into the wrong person eventually. I carry my 1911 every time I leave the house....

Are my headlights and airbox okay? lol

I'm not sure how shooting the kid would be justifiable from a moving vehicle nor shooting at a fleeing vehicle, but I carry one myself......

Road rage happens. If he chases me down or wrecks himself in the process and wants to fight about it I'm not going to lose.
